    Don’t order the scallops save yourself $50 , don’t order the salads everything comes rusted and pre wilted. The burger tastes like pizza. The surf and turf is okay because it’s hard to mess that up. All desserts are imported, all wines are screw tops.

    My best friend ordered the scallops and it looks like they had been microwaved and the vegetables were overcooked and dried and cold. She sent it back and it came back the same way.

    This Wednesday night was our 3rd consecutive night of restaurant dining in Duluth. On both the first and second nights, our restaurants of choice were full. When we walked into 301 at 6:00 p.m., the entire restaurant was literally empty. The adjacent bar had 3-4 people. Our hostess/bar tender/server was pleasant. In response to our inquiry she did acknowledge they had recently been "slow, but never empty like this". A bit dismayed, we decided to stay for dinner. We own that mistake. Manhattan and Hendrick's Martini were ordinary at best- weak and warm. House salad was o.k. The Berry, Peach and Prosciutto was excellent. Agnolotti Del Plin was virtually inedible due to the knife requiring toughness of the Agnolotti. Once the Agnolotti was "opened", the bison short rib itself was tender albeit a bit dry. Without asking our server comped the dish. The Seared Scallops with Corn Puree and Rendered Prosciutto while edible was far from favorably memorable. The breading was excessively thick, scallops a tad overcooked apparently in the rendered prosciutto fat. Said fat overwhelming the taste of scallop. We finished the meal with black coffee- far too weak for our taste. During the time time we were dinning, 2 other table tops totaling 3 persons were served. With many excellent restaurants in Duluth, we will never return to 301. Others seemingly had already learned that lesson.

    Excellent whiskey and craft beer selection. Both my brother and I had the steak frites, highly recommend! Service was attentive and friendly.

    The restaurant was empty, we were the only ones there at 6pm on a Saturday. A family of 5 walked in when we were leaving. The food was good and reasonably priced. The service needs help. We asked questions and the server said, "I'm not sure, I just started 2 weeks ago." Perhaps the server should be trained to go ask her manager if she doesn't know the answer to the customers questions if they pertain to the restaurant? Just a thought. The music was static, no staff seemed to notice as they were busy talking about the latest happenings in their lives. We asked them to turn it off or fix it, and they turned it off right away. Staff was pleasant and nice, just under-trained. Not the new servers fault.

    I made reservations thinking it would be busy. Not realizing I could order the same food upstairs in our room. The food was okay. The service was meh, just getting drinks took forever as did food and starters. Dining gal should be attended to first since we were the only ones there. The drinks - the mezcal tasted like gasoline. So strong. Spicy Mary. Was okay but also very very strong and harsh taste. Would not recommend in the dining room - great for room service. Beautiful seating area though. Loved that.

    We had a wonderful time at Restaurant 301. Our waitstaff was amazing! She was attentive and so kind. The fried goat cheese for a starter is a MUST have. They make their own jelly and that combined with the bread, pears and the goat cheese is DELICIOUS. Our table also ordered the berry, peach and prosciutto salad, the steak bites and the agnolotti del plin (ravioli). All of the dishes were very good. We were surprised to have such a wonderful experience as the restaurant is located inside the Sheraton Duluth Hotel. We really enjoyed our experience and look forward to going there again soon. Pssst...they also serve breakfast!

    Overall our dinner was decent. Apps were great (though the portioning on the deep friend goat cheese - three small balls and waaay too much sauce for them on the side - was a touch disappointing considering how tasty they were). Good wine and cocktails, attentive and kind server, but god, the agnolotti is an insult to agnolotti everywhere. And short rib for that matter. Huge, DEEP FRIED (they do know agnolotti is a pasta right?), and utterly dry. The dough was thick and chewy, and the short rib flavorless. Slapped on the plate over a bed of limp greens. I love food, I used to be a chef, so I get not every meal is going to go out perfect and maybe you take some swings that don't pan out, but this was the first meal I've ever had that actually shocked me with how bad it was. It was genuinely miserable to eat and unfortunately that eclipsed everything else. A menu is only as good as its worst item and this was BAD bad - and expensive. Whoever put it on the menu needs to turn on their apron and go into a different field.
