Over Eden | TRYP Hotel
Patio Reservations are weather-permitting.
The ambiance of this rooftop bar is great, and there is a wonderful view of the city. There was some confusion when we arrived as far as seating goes. I had a reservation (and there were several open tables at 9:45 PM when we arrived), but there were several discussions with the hostess staff regarding where to seat us. Our initial server arrived at our table and greeted us with one of the most unenthusiastic greetings I have ever received at a bar/restaurant. He left with our drink orders, and shortly thereafter, another server came to our table and introduced herself as our new server and re-took our drink orders. She was extremely polite, enthusiastic, and kind. The wine was good and the dip platter was very good. When we took a break from eating our dips to talk, an individual came to ask if our plates could be cleared. We told him that we were still working on the dips. Within 3 minutes, another individual came to collect our plates, and we provided this individual with the same information. Then within 5 more minutes, we were asked again about clearing our plates. There seems to be a lack of communication at this time. I do foresee good things for this location if this gets fixed.
Great view, noisy/poor acoustics inside
Somewhat bland but tasty dishes like the humous
Excellent sweet potatoes/artichokes/cocktails
Over Eden has a fantastic vibe. The outdoor tables are fantastic and the view of Pittsburgh is unmatched! The drinks were extremely well-made and tasty. I loved the appetizers and small plates. I ordered the pita with chicken and I did not think it had enough meat inside and it was over sauced, but I did not think it was anything to get upset about. I’d recommend this place to anyone! It’s a great date night spot and perfect for a girls’ night out. Check it out!
Such a great experience! The hostess so gracious, our server Julie so much fun and efficient. The outside patio lovely and the food delicious and plentiful. I will visit often!
We had a reservation for my husband's birthday and had hoped to sit outside. Unfortunately it rained and we had to sit inside -- the seating is not very comfortable and it gets very loud. However the food was outstanding so we'll be back on a clear night!
Great as always!!
This is a bar that leans towards nightclub but not a place to eat more than a snack. The staff is still new and the service seems lost. The seating is uncomfortable and when we went they were playing a range of eclectic noise and then inappropriate rap ... both very loud to the point a table outside next to us just got up and left. This really isn't a restaurant in that the pseudo-Mediterranean menu is just a mix of casual appetizers and then one entry designed for 3-4 that costs $90. My wife and I love eclectic places but it appears the staff is there for their enjoyment, not the customers, and the dining is best described as "bizarre". Great view and good drinks (after waiting for servers to get around to the order and bar tender to get off his phone) and fantastic view ... unfortunately wasted on a bad plan and very poor execution.
The view was absolutely amazing. The food was fantastic. But, the service was no where near what it should be at a restaurant like this. It took us 40 minutes to receive our check and our server barely checked on us throughout the evening. I had a much higher expectation... hopefully this is just part of the restaurant being new.
I will choose ACE every time I want a staycation in Pittsburgh. The only staff we found to be polite were at the front desk. We had a reservation at Over Eden and I had also made a reservation for the roof; only to be told that my reservation was only good inside and we had to fight to be allowed to finish our drinks outside.
The room that was supposedly deluxe was unimpressive and lacked robes and room service menus. For the price I paid, I expected significantly more.
Loved being outside with the view of the city. We watched the storms gather over the city, and pass by. We did nit get the rain. Will look forward your restaurant being open for lunch. We will be back.
View and the food are fabulous. So creative with a great Mediterranean menu of small plates. We are in love with the new desert- a chocolate taco like no other you have had.
Very disappointed in my cocktail - probably should have told someone but decided not to. Limited food choices so be prepared for small apps - but food was tasty
I’ve been here 4 times now. Great location, beautiful building, great view and concept. The first visit was the second day they were open and they were not ready. Credit card machines down, bartenders reading recipes to make drinks, ask to get cash from ATM half way through our meal- ugh! But the manager fixed the situation so we gave it a second try and enjoyed the experience. Both of these were walk-in sit at bar experiences. The next was seated out on patio with friends. Very good food and drinks. Service was okay. Every time we ordered a pitcher we got something different than what was asked for and instead of trying to fix it, they made up stories of “they used a different syrup but it’s the same”, etc. But everything else was good and we had fun. Last night, we went with different friends. Same situation with the pitchers. This time, we ordered pear but got punch and the descriptions are clear in menu but we were told we really got the pear when it’s the exact description of punch?!?! Friend asked for pickle plate with just pickles, not the other pickled veggies (we didn’t want a discount or more than the 2 pickles that come on plate) and they said that they can’t modify any dishes. Anyways, the drinks were not as good. Service is a little pretentious. Overall, mixed feelings about here.
This restaurant is amazing! The view is obviously unbeatable but the food is nothing to underestimate-delicious!!! Not only do you get great food and a great view but it’s all at a great value and the service is wonderful. Defiantly somewhere you should try out!
Hummus and falafel were delicious! Many vegetarian options for my boyfriend, though the menu is small. We sat outside and the view was lovely, but it looked like there was still a good view inside from the large windows. However, while the food was very good, it seemed a bit overpriced for the quantity.
The food and atmosphere were great!
We sat for 25 minutes without ever being seen by a server, so we left.
The ambience was fantastic. The view was brilliant, probably the best rooftop spot in the city. Lot of vegetarian options.
Beautiful view and comfortable feel.
Food was delicious and enjoyed the drinks, wine and beer.
An over all wonderful experience.
Service was also good.
Server could have done a better job at explaining the menu to newcomers as it is limited and requires some clarification. Otherwise, great atmosphere, good food and drinks!
i’m not sure what to say here. The restaurant is only a few weeks old and they deserve some leeway. However-I’m not sure it’s actually a restaurant. It’s more of a bar that has some light shareable foods not qualifying as small plates, if you choose to order them. Most of what’s on the menu would be described as appetizers in a Middle Eastern restaurant. Essentially everything is vegetarian except that you can add chicken or some other protein to a salad and they have one single entrée for the table which is ribs. I’m sorry but this is just a really odd menu. And it is certainly not a dinner menu. Additionally, the place is extraordinarily loud-actually deafening. And given that it was very hot out and their air-conditioning was barely working, it was extremely uncomfortable. I understand that this place wants to consider itself to be a hip hang out in a hotel but then it should not bill itself as a restaurant. We had drinks and taboolee and went to dinner someplace else.
Hip atmosphere but loud. Small menu but all good for sharing. Lovely cocktails.
Having someone posted at the elevators is a little over the top. I was there on a Friday night and the restaurant was not overbooked. The person called the restaurant to let the host know that I was on my way up and when I got there he seemed confused and asked me a few times what name the reservation was for. He was just called. He should not have reacted that way. The food was good, but I think if the menu stays so limited, the restaurant won't have repeating customers. Also, the 'rules' of the outside area are not clear. People were standing around within the eating area in the way of the restaurant staff. I think the 'no reservations' section could be more defined/clear.
No street parking
Slightly over priced
Don’t go hungry. The view isn’t great unless you wanna see Arsenal 201. Over priced nonsense. Go grab a burger somewhere and head to mt Washington. Way better
Food was very good and tasty. The pita was the best I have ever had. Menu is limited which suited me well. Very nice ambience as we sat undercover at rooftop level with a nice view of downtown. Service was very good with just the right amount of attention. Noise level was acceptable
Really enjoyed our night at over eden! Food was great and our server was very nice. The only thing I would criticize is that we ordered drinks and food and our food came out before our drinks...
Good place for drinks - next time I would sit at the long counter looking out at downtown Pittsburgh.
Honestly—just okay. We ordered a pitcher of the prickly pear cocktail and it wasn’t very good. We ordered the dip platter to eat—the baba ghanoush was reminiscent of oatmeal and the hummus had no flavor. The only tasty one was the carrot dip. We also sat in between two tables that needed to be wiped down for 15 minutes. The view was probably nice but we weren’t seated by it.
i have been there for drinks previous, this time we had dinner. everything was excellent. not one thing that I didn't like.
ENERGETIC is an understatement. FRENETIC is on point. With a name like 'Over Eden', is it wrong to expect a more idyllic experience? Design is everything in the hospitality business. So this place needs to decide if it wants to be a nightclub or a well-serviced restaurant. The hotel clients and the community at large deserve to know. I don't understand why an accommodation for different noise levels for differing activities is avoided at this hotel. After all there is a lobby level bar Brick Shop that should be the noisy space. And the rooftop space should be an alternative of respite. Yet the lobby area is virtually dead and the rooftop is rockin it. On a Thursday night no less. What gives? Even the majority of the Over-Eden non-bar seating is still the high-top style stools without back support. So after a long hard day, no creature comfort is offered. EXCEPT THE FOOD IS AWESOME! Yay for Chef Brandon Blumenfeld! The menu is a bit limited for a hotel, but not one item that our 4 top had was below exceptional. Four Salatim, one snack, half portions of two dips, an extra order of pita, and the pièce de ré·sis·tance: Pastrami Smoked Beef Ribs. OMG those ribs were delish delish. The draft beer glassware are awkward - who uses rocks glasses? And the cocktails take forever to pour and deliver. But overall our party was well fed and well treated - thank you. Maybe not Eden, but no bad apples here.
Ate outdoors. Great view. Service excellent. Spend the money for the rib platter. More than enough delicious food for three of us. Comes w hummus and 3 salatim. Drinks came first as expected.
Definitely a place that I would like to return. The place seems as if we left Pittsburgh for the evening. The views were amazing, food, and drinks were delicious.
We have been twice.. both times we reserved outdoor seating on Open Table and told it was unavailable. Also food is delivered both times before our cocktails. It’s like a Panera where food comes out by a server all at once. Quality of food is good but overall experience would e better if waiter actually served drinks and food. Also there is not a huge quantity of food offerings..
Read menu before you go..
Insist on seating you reserve and definitely insist your food is not delivered too abruptly!!
No food, don't go here if you plan to eat. The "Menu" had 2 sandwiches on it and the waitress had no personality. Yes, the view is nice, this is a bar, not a restaurant. Go once to get it out of the way and then eat somewhere else like we did.
View and ambience was great but food choices were limited and over priced.
Accommodating waitress. Had hummus, carrots, fatoush salad with chicken , couscous and date ice cream. The ice cream was really different. Pita bread is home made. Very good. Delightful space with open space created by garage doors. Plus a roof garden that can be sectioned off. A welcome addition to the city., can’t wait for them to open the first floor restaurant. Wyndham has a winner on their hands.
This is a new restaurant figuring out its identity, and it feels like it. Hostess was quite rude. No plan for outdoor seats (with reservations)?when it started raining.
Great place Great staff great atmosphere great location great food
50th birthday for my friend. We absolutely loved every bite. We ordered too much but got had leftovers! Will definitely come back.
