At the hotel we were staying at. Great food and drinks. We had 3 meals there of the 5 days we were in Maui. Beautiful sunset views from the outside tables.

Great ambiance and food. Just always seems very windy and the cups are plastic and we always worry about them tipping over.

We dined at this restaurant on the last night of our vacation, and it was hands down the best dining experience we had. I only wish we had tried it sooner so we could have made a return visit! The food was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent. The outdoor atmosphere was casual and cozy. The live music was so good that we kept lingering. I highly recommend the Lobster Roll. It was so tasty! All food and beverage items were great but the Lobster Roll was perfection! Reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment, as it’s a popular place!

Hale Moʻolelo is an open-air, beachfront bar and patio with a mix of seating: bar seats, high tables in the bar area, and tables on the patio right by the water. It’s laid out for casual dining and storytelling-style cocktails rather than private dining rooms. Guests note some tables sit close together, and hosts can sometimes shift seating to better views if you arrive early or mention special occasions.

There’s no formal public policy cited, but guests frequently report long lines and waits during peak times (sunset and busy holiday evenings). Reservations are strongly recommended to avoid disappointment; if you arrive without one, expect possible wait times and a potential short queue or hold. Calling ahead is the best way to check current wait times or ask about a waitlist on busy nights.

Busiest: sunset hours and weekend/holiday evenings, the sunset ceremony, live music and ocean views draw crowds. Quietest: early dinners before sunset or weekday evenings tend to be calmer with shorter waits. Happy hour (3–5 pm) may be busy too for guests seeking drinks and front-row sunset spots, so plan and reserve accordingly if you prefer a quieter visit.

Yes, Hale Moʻolelo is a popular spot for date nights thanks to its beachfront sunset views, live music, and relaxed, romantic vibe. Guests frequently call out the sunset ceremony, torch lighting and intimate tables right at the water’s edge. For the best experience, request a sunset table and make a reservation (it gets busy). Note: service and noise can vary on peak nights, so an early dinner or a confirmed reservation helps ensure a smooth evening.

Yes for family-friendly seating, Hale Moʻolelo welcomes families and many guests bring kids for birthdays and casual dinners; half-portion menu options also make sharing easier. The venue is an open-air beachfront bar/restaurant with a range of seating (bar seats, high tables, patio tables by the water). Resort casual is the stated dress code, so plan on relaxed, neat attire suitable for a beachfront hotel restaurant, think sundresses, nice shorts, polos, or casual slacks. Guests typically dine comfortably in beach-appropriate clothing for sunset dinners and live-music nights.

Portions are generally generous for shared starters and some entrees, and the restaurant offers half-portion options on select dishes. Guests often mention very large edamame servings, hearty poke nachos and a substantial lobster roll, while steaks and fresh-catch plates can be full-sized. Prices are island-level; some guests say portions offer good value, others feel a few entrees are pricey. If you want smaller plates, ask about the half-portion option when you order.

Expect special menus, higher demand and possibly different service setups on holidays, so reserve early and confirm any holiday-specific details with the restaurant.
