Found Kitchen and Social House
Found conjures an atmosphere perfect for the most personal occasion or spirited soiree where the NYT calls it the "most perfect dinner party..."
Found crafts rustic fare with the New American palate in mind sourcing from local ranches and farms. The eclectic and ever-evolving flexitarian menu is perfect for every kind of diner with items changing to reflect the best local ingredients. Making a difference in the community and being a partner to drive change is fundamental tour philosophy.
Reservations are accepted and spontaneous dining is encouraged! Much of our dining room is held open for walk-ins. Please feel free to walk-in anytime.
Amazing food. Interesting preparations for fresh food of a wide variety. And they even have Whiskey flights.
Delicious and always one of our favorites!! Dinner or lunch.
A little pricey, but a nice night out overall.
Overrated and overpriced. Quality of the ingredients was great but dishes were not exciting.
Eclectic, young vibe! The food was wonderful! Don’t be afraid to try the avocado gelato! The waiters are extremely nice and friendly!
Never disappointed at Found! It is my go to dinning social house. Love the changing fresh menu and sitting at the "chef" bar table. Staff is friendly and swift! Love Love Love
The food, the atmosphere and the service were impeccable. The kale salad, the frites (and aioli sauce yummmmm), steak, fish, and amazing avocado gelato dessert were ALL amazing. Mary, our server, was efficient, friendly and so helpful when ordering. Overall one of the best restaurant experiences we have had in a long time!!
Waited for 15 min for server to first come by and offer drinks.
Great space and cocktails, but the food is very hit and miss. We spent over $150 for dinner and a couple cocktails each and it was not worth it. Will be the last time we eat there.
Great food, service, and ambience. We had friends in from out of town and they loved the funky decor. What more could you want?
I would love to leave a positive review but unfortunately most of my experience was unpleasant. We were not greeted upon arrival, staff begrudgingly helped us to our table, the food took 30 minutes to arrive and key components of dishes were missing. We were thankful for a discount due to the mistakes, but ultimately I would not recommend the experience and certainly will not return.
Additional note: the kitchen closes at 2:30pm, yet reservations are still able to be made without a warning of that information. Luckily, we booked for 2:00pm and had time to order but I can't help but think the delay in our food was due to the kitchen closing early (on a Saturday).
The food was good but not worth going to again. We ordered quite a bit of items from the menu as we like to try different things. There was nothing that we ordered that we loved or needed to have again. Cute restaurant and good service.
This was my last time at Found. I’ve been here several times and the last two were so bad I’m done with it. Ambience is great, and I have to say this is a good time for a first or second date... but that’s it. Food is bad, portions are small (the new claim is they are “tapas style” - at average $20 each - and service leaves a lot to be desired. For instance, our server showed up at the end of the dinner to pour another glass from our Prosecco (which we had drunk already). She never checked whether the food was ok, or we needed to order something else.
We were at Found for New Year’s Eve and that was another fiasco... so au revoir Found! There are much better places in Evanston to be found!
The room(s), decorations, chairs, stools, colors are all unique and pleasing - and the place is welcoming and comfortable. Staff was professional and attentive. Food and drinks were amazing. Looking forward to returning many more times!
Our request to have our dinner paced out was ignored, the food was bland, except for the pot de creme, and the portions extremely small for the price.
We went this week for a big anniversary, and it couldn't have been better! We've been several times before over the years, and we always love it- but when we told them it was our 25th anniversary, they went above and beyond to make it a lovely night for us. They sat us near the chef, who was delightful. He made us a special dish in addition to what we ordered as a surprise, which was amazing. We talked with him a bit while he worked and he told us all sorts of things about the food we were eating and where it came from. It really impressed on us how much work they do there to find fresh ingredients, source them locally, and then make an innovative meal from it (but we were happy that they still kept some old favorites on the menu like the lamb meatballs). The wait staff kept checking in on us, and they brought us some prosecco as another gift. It was just the perfect night full of fantastic fresh farm to table food, and great (but not invasive) conversation from the staff. We will keep coming back to Found.
Brunch here is a truly remarkable experience. I have now tried all of the items on that menu and am THOROUGHLY impressed. The ones that stand out are the French Toast Bananas Foster, Avocado Toast, and Fried Chicken and Johnny Cakes. And the homemade blueberry and pineapple soda was so refreshing...an added bonus.
Their Sous Chef Steven prepared our meals both days and he executed those dishes to perfection. Kudos!!!
Always a lovely experience in every way. Our server Jonathon was knowledgable and attentive. We had the special trout which was wonderful, and I had a drink made with the house-made fruit soda and vodka...great.
Delicious meal (bone marrow and steak were particular standouts) with excellent cocktails and warm service.
I had the kale salad with salmon - the salmon was very greasy and very spicy- the salad had a lot of vinegar and low quality oil- I have to say my stomach was not ok at all after the meal. My host did not feel ok either - he had the same dish. Very disappointing. the service was great though as well as the ambience. I would not eat there again though.
Great dinner spot, but this was our first time trying their brunch service. Won't rush back. Food was good, but not worth the price and service wasn't great.
Great place with very good food and service. We were very nicely surprised by quality of food and service and environment.
We have been to Found many time prior to Saturday. Cocktails are always good. The food this time seemed off. Carrots were terrible, left most on the plate. My date had the pork loin special which he said was ok. I had the mussels which were also just Ok. The wait staff left much to be desired with service.
We were there for graduation and were given a very limited menu. The options were not very good. Salads were bland and didn’t seem to have dressing on them. Roasted veggies were undercooked and pork was over cooked and dry. Service was great and drinks were delicious. Food not at as good as we remembered. Sorry- hate to give a bad review.
I ordered steak medium well. Waiter said chef likes to do it medium rare. I said I don’t like to see blood and wanted my meat cooked through. We went back and forth on his asking me to choose something else and my requesting the steak medium well. With allergies to gluten, dairy and shellfish, there were very few other options available to me on the menu. He reluctantly agreed to ask the chef for the meat medium well. The meat arrived medium rare. I gave the middle to my husband to eat and ate the two ends. I couldn’t “share” the other food items as they contained gluten. Based on the way food comes out when it is done, everyone else had eaten and my dish was the last to come out, so no opportunity to order something else. Very disappointing service and food. I left hungry. I’ve eaten here 4-5 times in the past, and this was graduation lunch for my son graduating Northwestern. I won’t return and I will post this review on the NU Parent Facebook Page.
We were here for graduation lunch and I was a little disappointed. We had a variety of small plates and while there were a few standouts, some where just okay. And the prices were high. The mussels were delicious but the lamb meatballs didn’t have much flavor without the sauce. The kale salad had a little too much vinegar. It was a nice lunch with good service but not as fantastic as it should have been for the money.
Great steak salad.
I love Found. The food is always high quality and interesting. The cocktails are really good, and the wine selection includes good, reasonably priced options. My only complaint is that our server came on a little strong, and frequently interrupted our conversation.
The decor is fun and inviting. Menu is creative tho some dishes were not as tasty as the menu described. We ordered a basic martini and were served a concoction like a martini. Not sure if it was a specialty drink, but it definitely was not a martini. Love that they use vintage glasses! Our waiter was engaging and conscientious.
Lovely evening. First time there. Small shareable plates with a cozy decor and nice lighting. We had a very lovely young server who helped explain some of the menu items. We had Kale Salad, lamb meatballs, zucchini and squash flat bread, and the salmon plus the bread. Not happy to pay for bread. Also, brought my own wine for a $20 corkage fee. Finished with gelato and sorbet. $50 p/person before tip. Nice evening in Evanston. I used to work in Evanston when it was a dry city. No longer the case and better for it. Has become a nice restaurant town.
All the food was well thought out and excellent. Everything is meant to be shared, and our server Joshua was very good at giving suggestions not only on dishes but also on quantity. Love that’s it’s as locally sourced as possible. The ambiance is eclectic yet comforting.
Loved it- steak and salmon shareables were delicious. Loved the unusual decor as well
I was impressed with Found in Evanston. The food was very fresh and the ambience nice. A somewhat limited menu but was good for lunch.
the service was outstanding on this visit
The food was good but expensive for the vegetables we mostly ordered
They charge extra for bread and fries
It seems a little chintzy
My friend ordered wine and the pour was so small that after a few sips she had to order another glass
The second pour was much more generous. Why?
Not my favorite place
Really nice dining experience on a Saturday night. Hostess very nice and accommodating. We got there early, sat at the bar and waited for our friends. Worked out perfectly as the table we were hoping for opened up for seating just a bit after our 6:45 reservation. A+ for almost everything except they did not have one of the items listed on the menu. No biggie...we just ordered a different version. They ran out of the crab special and when we showed a bit of disappointment the server said it was because we took a long time to place our order. 😳It was now 7:30 on a Saturday night. We did get the chicken wing special and although really tasty, very little viable meat on the bone. However...baguette, excellent. Accompanying French crème frâiche butter, could have eaten that on its own! So good. Mussels, excellent, but could have used a touch more salt. Caviar, excellent! Steak, excellent. The rest of the food appeared to be delicious, but I held at the above. Dessert - excellent. Cappuccino, great! Will go again!
Food and service was great
Pleasant atmosphere. Rather pricey. Food was ok but nothing special. Ordered the roasted vegetables which were crunchy and charred. The salmon tasted fishy. Mussels were tasty.
The food in general was very good and they expect you to share the very small plates. We had a beet salad, flatbread, bread, lamb meatballs the perch special and a cookie plate for dessert $90. Did not have any drinks. Service was very good and all plates were prepared nicely. This was for 3 people and I left a bit hungry. We did not feel rushed to leave and it was definitely quiet enough to have a conversation. The bottom line is food was fresh but for the price was not exceptional.
Cubano flatbread is awesome. Wings are terrible:) Very good service. Cute place
