Main Street Social
Had a reservation for brunch for 7 on a Saturday morning. Seating was prompt and waitress was friendly and engaging. Eclectic brunch menu that provided choices for everyone. Food was served reasonably quickly and was hot when it arrived. Very tasty dishes with large portions. Would certainly recommend for brunch and will come back for dinner soon.
In spite of the fact that the restaurant was near empty, it took what seemed like ages to even get our drinks. That was nothing compared to the wait for our bill. 40 minutes after we were finished with our food we were sitting in a basically empty restaurant asking bus boys if they could direct us to literally anyone with access to the cash register to let us out of this place. Finally, another waiter, who was much nicer than the young woman who was our initial waitress delivered our bill and released us from the purgatory that is Main Street Social. Eventually we found our waitress accosting some men at a table a few rows down because one of them thought the grilled octopus was a main dish instead of an appetizer, and she was busy yelling something to the effect of “it’s not like we’re going to give you the whole octopus!” I guess I didn’t realize that they were doing an Ed Debevic’s style routine here.
Believe it or not, coming here was in the beginning a post-workout stop (and still is) for my wife and I. Later it became client meals for my wife, then dinners with friends of ours and now holiday business events. Everything on the menu is top notch prepared, each and every time we walk in the door. The difference in the long run, because there's plenty of great places to eat in Libertyville, is the SERVICE, and management of the restaurant. They care about you from the second you walk in the door and that really makes it easy when it comes to figuring out where you want go have dinner!
We loved everything about this place but it was very loud.
Had a reservation but when we arrived there was a private party. We had to wait for them to go into the restaurant and we had to sit in the bar. Extremely loud, couldn’t have a conversation. Wait staff catered to the private party, service was slow. Small portions, and expensive! Bad experience.
Lipstick on glass, very high price for meals. Flatbreads tough.
Food was excellent, service was outstanding.. a bit noisy an a bit crowded.. but beautiful restaurant. We will definitely be coming back
Always a great experience! Food, wine, and service are top notch and rank among the best in the area. A great addition to the burgeoning Libertyville dining scene. The later it gets, the noisier it becomes so time your business meals well - however, I always opt for Main Street to impress visiting customers!
Celebrated birthdays here, food was fantastic, as was the service and attention. Recommend Main Street Social!
We booked our reservation because of a gift card that someone had given me a while ago and went with no prior word of mouth or expectations about the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall ambiance and certainly the friendliness of the staff. We had the surprise of sitting next to one of the owners while we waited at the bar for our table and he took the time to go over both the menu and the wine list with us ... and just to chat. The wine he recommended was very good and his insights into the menu items were welcomed.
The wait staff was there when you needed them and not when you didn't ... perfect in my mind. The main room is 'tight' but not overly so and the noise level is appropriate for the crowd and contributed to the overall impression that people there were having a good time.
Such a great find in Libertyville! Really enjoyed the wine and appetizers. Cannot wait to return for dinner
We have come to this restaurant a few times from a nearby suburb since it opened
Every time since it has opened the food quality has gone down tremendously the noise level has risen
There is no ambiance either
No salt and pepper on the table no flowers no candle no setup but napkins and water glasses
Just noise and bad food
The restaurant is starting to have a roadside appeal and no quality of food cold and tasteless pasta
Waste of time and money
So incredibly loud. I could t hear my girlfriend seated next to me.
met here for an early Friday dinner. love this place, have been here many times at different times of the day. would love to see more paleo on the menu
Food was good and arrived quickly. Portion was quite small for the price charged.
Delicious menu with something for every taste!
I have eaten here on several occasions for brunch and dinner .. the staff are AMAZING... friendly, helpful about menu questions and good service. Prices very reasonable for quality and portions. I would recommend for parties or business dinners as well. Kyle our waiter was awesome and the manager even greeted us to see how everything was. Five stars for sure and great location.
I had the heirloom salad and mussels. My husband had the prosciutto flatbread as an appetizer which he shared with my brother in law. They respectively had the gnocchi and bolognese pasta. Everything was delicious and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Linguine with clams overly seasoned and too oily. Only 4 small clams. Salad good. Martini overly vermouth, ordered dry. Place is ok but there are better options.
Outstanding food and service. The octopus and duck appetizers were so good we almost ordered another round of them ! Then we tried 2 pasta dishes which were both fantastic. The “doughnuts “ were crazy good too
My party of three drove out to hear our friend Al Burroughs perform - Blues night - it was an hour and 20 min drive, but it was worth it. We knew the music would be excellent, but the food was excellent as well. Hats off to the Chef!! It was a very nice evening. I would recommend this restaurant in Libertyville.
The food was tasty. However we went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was very noisy, so much so that we could not enjoy our dinner. The wait staff did their best and provided good service under the busy circumstances. If you do not like noise and having to shout to have a conversation with your companions I would recommend finding a time to go to this restaurant when it is not busy.
First time diners. Food was good but in the case of the ravioli, the menu didn’t match the food served. High energy environment but the effect made it hard to hear.
They gave us a great private room for my Dads 70th Birthday. Only complaint is that it is very loud so hard to have a conversation.
Need to warn patrons of the limited parking available.
It was incredible! Everything was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was perfect.
Food was tasty but some seemed overpriced
Insane is a very scary time position of right now not disturb director made by seeing any of the following best
Food and service was excellent!! Kaci was outstanding! Our first visit and we will definitely be back.
Live jazz on Saturday afternoon - thoroughly enjoyed it! Interesting and delicious menu. Good food, good service.
The food and service are great. However, the noise level in the dinning room makes it challenging to have a conversatio.
Amazing food and staff
Great find in Libertyvile! Good food and nice atmosphere in the main dining room!
They were 45 minutes late seating us for our reservation. The manager made a big deal out of saying he was going to take care of us and never even stopped by to see how we were doing. It was noisy and the food was so-so.
Will not be returning.
Unique food options that are hard to find in a neighborhood restaurant. So many choices that I’ll have to go back and try more!
Food and service were superb. Highly recommend this restaurant to all.
It is way too loud in the restaurant. Loved that it was older people. Food and service just ok.
Main Street Social is a nice restaurant. The food is good and the service we had was excellent. My only complaint is the noise level. It is way too loud! Which makes it difficult to have a conversation as we had to yell across the table. Not a relaxing experience.
Fantastic food and service. Very noisy inside, so we moved to an outside table. That was much nicer for us, but then the mosquitos descended. They did their best to fix it with citronella candles (and some other diners chose to move inside). The food was amazing... nice portion sizes (just enough, not too big). Very attentive and friendly staff.
Despite a couple of our meals being a bit overdone (my pork chop was actually more than a bit overdone), the flavors were excellent, the experience was great, and I will return for another try! The restaurant gets knocked for its noise level. I have to admit we ate outside in their "garden area" that is more like a "parking lot" setting. But, somehow it worked for us as well, though I'm not sure why. It just did. Quiet and the waiter was attentive, despite being a bit of a distance from the kitchen. Though I may sound conflicted, I recommend you give it a try!
