I picked this for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. The service was incredible. The short ribs were fork tender and fell apart- delicious! Don’t skip the au gratin potatoes. The melting chocolate cake was 10/10.

Roy’s knows how to care for guests. We had 3 children in our party and the staff was amazing! The children’s pre-fixed menu was perfect for them and the value was incredible. Great wine list and the food wonderful. Thank you for all you did to make our night fun!

Roy’s Waikoloa Bar was a great dining experience, especially because of the food. The filet mignon was the highlight of the meal. It was cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when ordering a steak. Every bite was rich and satisfying, and the quality of the dish really stood out. The service was also excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. From start to finish, everything was handled well, and the meal felt like a true treat. Great food, great service, and a perfect filet mignon. I would definitely recommend Roy’s Waikoloa Bar to anyone looking for a memorable dinner on the Big Island.

The Rombauer wine dinner was excellent....both food and wine. However, it was too loud.

FAQs

Yes, Roy’s Waikoloa is a popular choice for date night. Guests love the lake-side window tables, warm service and standout desserts (the chocolate soufflé/lava cake is often recommended). Expect an upbeat, resort-casual vibe, some evenings can be lively and a bit loud, so ask for a window table or an early seating if you prefer a quieter, more romantic meal. Dress is resort casual and the menu leans Hawaiian‑fusion with wine and craft cocktails to pair with mains.

Portions are generally generous for mains (meatloaf, steaks and signature fish are substantial), but several guests noted portions feel smaller than in years past for the price. Desserts and appetizers are crowd-pleasers and often shareable. If you’re especially hungry, consider adding a grilled lobster tail or crab cake from the entrée additions, or share a starter and a main between two people.

Dinner service runs daily. Roy’s Waikoloa is open for dinner every day, typically 4:30 pm–8:30 pm. If you want an earlier, quieter meal or to take advantage of special early‑bird pricing, aim for the 4:30–5:30 window when early-evening offerings and quieter seating are often available.

Family-friendly, yes. Guests frequently note Roy’s is very welcoming to families: there’s a well‑liked keiki (children’s) menu, staff go out of their way for kids, and servers have brought kid-friendly items without prompting. Accessible seating specifics (ramps, turn space, ADA tables) aren’t provided in the available information, so call ahead if you need particular accessibility accommodations.

Early evening, especially the first seating (around 4:30–5:30), is often the best time. Guests report quieter dining, quicker service and early‑bird menu value during that window. Weeknights and off‑peak times are generally calmer; holidays, spring break and weekend evenings tend to be busiest and louder, so reserve ahead if you plan to go then.

Roy’s has a main dining room with window tables that overlook the resort lake and golf course, plus bar seating where guests can eat and drink. The restaurant welcomes larger parties and private events (private-party bookings are available). If you want a waterside-view table or quieter corner, request it when you reserve, guests often mention being seated by the windows as a highlight.

Warm, resort-casual and upbeat with Hawaiian‑fusion flair. Guests praise the friendly staff, scenic lake views and the restaurant’s welcoming vibe for special occasions. Note: several guests describe the dining room as lively and sometimes loud (especially at peak times or near the bar), and a few say the décor feels dated. For a romantic or quieter experience, request a window table and an earlier seating.

Resort casual. The restaurant’s owner information lists the dress code as resort casual, comfortable, neat attire is appropriate for the relaxed‑elegant dining room. Guests commonly arrive in smart‑casual clothing for date nights and special occasions.

Yes, guests commonly call ahead for seating, celebrations and dietary accommodations. Reviews highlight staff arranging window tables for anniversaries, bringing kid-friendly items unprompted, and managers stepping in to help when needed. If you have accessibility needs, a large party, dietary restrictions, or want a specific table (window/table by the water), call the restaurant when booking to confirm.

Yes, Roy’s is kid-friendly. Guests repeatedly praise the keiki menu (many say it’s one of the best on the island) and note servers often go above and beyond for families, even bringing small complimentary items for infants. That said, the dining room can be loud at family-friendly times, so an early seating or letting staff know you’re with children can help ensure a smooth experience.

There’s no formal waiting‑list policy posted here, but guests frequently report the restaurant gets very busy (especially holidays and weekend evenings) and that even reservations can be delayed. The best practice is to reserve in advance, arrive on time, and expect occasional delays during peak periods, call ahead if you need confirmation or to be placed on any in-house waitlist when you arrive.

Busiest: weekend evenings, holidays (e.g., Christmas Eve), and peak vacation times like spring break, guests describe long waits and louder rooms during these periods. Quietest: early dinner seatings (the 4:30–5:30 window) and midweek evenings are generally calmer with faster service and better chances for a window table.

Yes, Roy’s is a multi-location restaurant brand with locations across Hawaii and on the U.S. mainland. Guest reviews reference visiting other Roy’s locations and comparing menus and experiences, so expect shared signature dishes alongside location‑specific specials at Waikoloa.

Yes, the restaurant lists that it allows private parties and many guests and reviews describe large-group bookings and special‑event service. If you’re planning a private event, call the restaurant to discuss room options, menus, and capacity, staff and management have been praised for accommodating celebrations and anniversaries.

Yes, Roy’s Waikoloa operates on many holidays and has offered holiday menus (reviews describe Christmas Eve prix‑fixe service and guests dining on holidays). Expect holiday seatings to be busy and either prix‑fixe or limited-menu service on certain dates, so reserve early and confirm any special holiday timings or menus when booking.

No, guests and reviews indicate Roy’s Waikoloa does not offer outdoor tables; instead, the dining room has windows that look over the resort lake and golf course. Many guests note the picturesque indoor window seating as a highlight, but true outdoor or patio dining is not mentioned in the available information.
