What Insiders Are Saying
Bill and Giuliana Rancic force us to like them with excellent Italian food in a trendy setting.
Phenomenal experience. Minor hick up in our order and the management personally took amazing care of us. We were celebrating a special occasion while visiting Chicago. Food was delicious, we will definitely be back the next time we are in town.
Only thing about this time was that we had a reservation and took 40 minutes to get our table.
Very polished from simple dishes to the most unique
Great food, great service! Perfect for a date!
Absolutely wonderful in every way!! Service, food, ambiance, everything beyond wonderful.
Felt like we were at a “club” the atmosphere was very different from the last time we were there. Music choice should be more classic Italian for an Italian restaurant. The music made my family feel like we were on the club sidelines and we wanted a more chic family experience for my daughters birthday. I did not get a homey feel. Also you should really put in a dress code because for this restaurant men should not be allowed in beach shorts, Vineyard Vines T-shirt’s & flip/flops.
Not a good dining experience.
Our first time dining here and we absolutely loved it!! Our server was so kind and helpful with the menu, & gave great suggestions! Had the chicken parmesan, so delicious!! We will be back again soon :)
Great anniversary dinner. We dined early so it was very quiet
Beautiful restaurant. I would highly recommend the house made pasta.....the carbonara was outstanding. That said the olives were strange, the halibut was small and dry and the corn was dry. Garlic mashed potatoes A+. Service seemed slow but maybe they wanted to give us time to celebrate? Rough when you’re hungry. That said nice treat at the end for our anniversary. For an upscale somewhat expensive place I can find better.
So delicious, excellent ambiance and fabulous service. I always love coming here and enjoying the terrific food.
Overall, we had really enjoyed our delicious meal and evening. Although, we did request and we had a quieter table, it was still quite loud in this restaurant. The bar and parts of the main dining area has a feeling like a crowded department store. It overwhelms you with those clothing racks jumping out to attack you! The ones that you never can seem to get out of their way. My wife being from Switzerland remarked about the Italian food and cooking quality. She thoroughly had enjoyed it. She had the pappardelle and I had the spaghetti with a good sized meat ball! The portions are enough in size. One issue I had with a surly bartender who queried who I was buying a second glass of wine for. She was waiting in the main waiting area. I had said my wife, why does that matter? I suppose the law says that you could be buying it for a minor. Ooo-kay... He wasn't the nicest barkeep anyway. Everyone else was. I would go back and highly recommend RPM, overall though. Apparently, they do stay very busy on a consistent basis. You will most likely have to make reservations with a good amount of days and maybe weeks in advance. Unless you wanted to dine in "off" hours which we didn't.
Nice job by the sommelier!
Volvería a regresar y lo recomiendo, todo lo que pedimos fue extraordinario guiados. Muy buen servicio
Outstanding food and service as always. The cocktails were once again on point - RPM serves one of the best Negronis in town. This place is my go-to recommendation for a date or special occasion because of how consistent and reliable it is.
I had no expectations but my husband wanted to flake out because he thought it might be too pretentious for us. We came here for our 2nd wedding anniversary dinner and couldn’t have been happier. We got there early and were seated in a back area that felt really nice and private. Our sever, Nina, was spectacular. Her recommendations were spot on and so helpful. We started with the Rosemary Focaccia bread. I got the Spicy King Crab squid ink spaghetti and the Brussels Sprouts. My husband got the steak special “the Duke”, ribeye filet and the whipped potatoes. Everything was delicious! I debated over the rice pudding and the lemon cake and Nina convinced me on the rice pudding and brought me back both in addition to that the Hazelnut Tartufo! So 3 desserts - talk about the way to my heart and stomach. 2 desserts on the house and continually wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Oh and the manager comes by to pour us each a glass of Guiliana’s champagne and wish us more Happy Anniversary wishes! Wow, keeping the amazing memories coming. We will certainly be back and highly recommend it here. I saw Guliana shopping on Michigan Avenue in front of the Bloomingdale building with her son while my sisters were in town a few months ago on my birthday weekend so I can only imagine that she would want an experience to be like at here!
Best Italian restaurant in Chicago. Service impeccable. Food delicious.
Yummy food and outstanding service! The gold chocolate cake was delicious! Thank you!
I forgot how good this place was! Everything we ordered was perfect. Will be returning soon with guests next time!
As usual, the food was very good. Three stars is due to the fact that even with a reservation we waited an hour past reservation time to be seated. We were so hungry had to order apps at the bar.
We celebrated our 10th anniversary at RPM Italian. All employees congratulated us! We are never disappointed when we have dinner there.
Great appetizers. Prime meatballs, crab bruschetta, Fried calamari and risotto all excellent. Very tiny filet. Our waiter not very attentive, but other made up for his lack of service.
My sons 14th birthday. We were greeted with a happy birthday which made my son very happy. Great food and wonderful service.
We were very excited to try this place. Got seated right away, & table was great. Clean lines, chic venue. However, we had to ask someone to check on our waiter because no one had come to take our drink order after 10 minutes. This was an 11:15 PM reservation, so it wasn’t exactly packed. The artichokes were absolutely delicious. Pasta was exceptional. Got the bucatini & tortellini. Highly recommend! The steak in the steak frites was flavorful, especially with the sauce, but there were no frites to speak of. It came with crispy potato shreds that were more like a garnish than a side. Very disappointing when you pay for & expect a steak frites dish. I’m all for an inventive take, but the menu didn’t reflect that, & it really cheapened the dish. Strong standout, simple dishes, but they need to work on service & mains. A lot of potential to be an amazing experience.
An outstanding experience as usual. We had a fantastic family dinner. The food was exceptional. Our server was elegant and very knowledgeable about the menu. Top quality all around.
Our server Nina G. was wonderful and truly made the night special. We love RPM Italian !
Luke was the best waiter and the food was out of this world! I’d eat there every night!
Overall good experience but not really a WOW factor for the price. I was impressed by the fried chicken
It was a wonderful first time experience!
Can’t say enough good things ab this place! Must try if you’re in Chicago!
Absolutely amazing dinner and experience! The Roman Style Artichoke was amazing. We ordered the Short Rib Bolognese, Carbonara, and Scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavor and portion sizes were perfect. For desert we had the cheesecake, cannolis, and Pistachio Gelato. The whole dinner was great do to our Rockstar server Travis. He put everything together for us beautifully last night. Great experience can’t wait to go back again.
Our mashed potatoes came out cold 😑... other than that the food and drinks were good!
The food was poor. Our Beef tartare was the worst I have ever had in my life. Our main courses were ok, just average. It was our first date away from our kids in 5 years and I’m bummed the experience wasn’t good.
Amazing experience! Food and service was excellent!
One of our favorite Italian spots in Chicago. Pastas are amazing: try the carbonara or short rib. Risotto with truffles should not be missed. Lots of fabulous starters including the lobster bruschetta and 600 Day Prosciutto. Don’t miss this place!
Service and food was great
Perfect in every way! The atmosphere is on point and the food is amazing! Must try the octopus!
The restaurant is much too noisy for conversation and the food was pretty average. The piece of halibut I had was rather small for the price and didn't have much seasoning. I would be hesitant in recommending this restaurant unless you're looking for a party atmosphere that features OK food.
Food was delicious. Service was attentive and great at making recommendations from the menu.
