The food was outstanding and the wait staff superior. Would definitely go again when in Portland. My first impression from the website was that was the restaurant was larger than what it was and would be somewhere to go for a more formal celebration dinner with 10 people or more, but it is actually a quaint and comfortable type atmosphere, not as formal as I originally thought but definitely great for a smaller group celebration.

The service was incredible. They are very clearly a family restaurant and take pride in what they do. The energy is calm even though you see the staff energetically rushing out plates filled with amazing dishes to tables all around you. The lasagne and tortelloni were incredible, the hand made noodles make all the difference. I hesitate to recommend Cafe Med as I dont want it to be so busy I cant get in lol Give it a shot and you will not be disappointed!

About the restaurant
Grand Amari is a traditional Italian dining destination inspired by the food traditions of Italy, fine Italian wine, and amaro. We are working with pasture raised proteins, seasonal local organic produce, and highlighting the quality of handmade products. Simplicity and care in our approach is key. Start your evening off by perusing our extensive wine list while enjoying a platter of scallop crudo with a glass of grower Champagne. Follow that with our delicate handmade agnolotti or squid ink bucatini, then indulge in grass fed bistecca alla fiorentina or salt crusted branzino. Don't forget to get a bottle of Barolo with your bistecca! Wrap up your dinner with an array of Italian desserts and our indulgent amaro cart and menu.

We had the Halibut & it was too salty & the portion was too small for the cost, especially since 2 of us share on serving of the Halibut...

It was just the worst… kidding! Everything from the food, service, to drinks were amazing. If it’s your first visit make sure to have the Som pick your wine and order a Budino with a Noccino for dessert.
