A really lovely evening at the Oak Bistro. Food quality and menu choices top notch and service extremely professional. Special thanks to young Italian waitress who went above and beyond to return left items after we’d departed.

I went with 3 friends and wanted to have a really excellent Indian meal with people I am very close to. The whole experience was excellent! The service was attentive and prompt but not intrusive. The onion bhaghee starters were absolutely fabulous! Large round balls of crispy exterior yet moist interior onion joy. We had a mixture of hot and medium curries and two very good bottles of wine. When I came to pay the bill I asked was service included and they said no. I really like that because if the service had been bad I would have had to create a scene but this way the choice was mine. I left a 20% tip in cash even though I paid by card. I will return for sure!

Wine Bar
Cambridge
About the restaurant
A truly inspirational wine destination venue that has a relaxed vibe but with quality at its heart. We believe that just as wine evolves in the bottle, so should our offering, and that is reflected in our ever-changing wine list. We are a place that will evolve and bring new flavours and experiences to the heart of Cambridge.

We don’t aim to have the largest wine list, but rather focus on interesting and niche wines, fine and rare bottles, and for those hard to find gems and with our flat rate corkage, the value for money is exceptional.

Similarly our small menu hopes to bring quality at a reasonable price, so a night of food and wine matching can be a regular treat.

Our seasoned sommeliers are there to guide your journey at each turn so whether it is an intimate evening for two, or a private event for 20+ in our cellar, it should be an experience to remember. Please note that our kitchen closes at 9pm and that we are primarily a Wine Bar.

The nicest bar in Cambridge, a little gem tucked away, not far from the station but also near enough to walk from the city centre. Friendly service, classy, quiet ambience. They have an extensive wine and champagne list, reasonably priced. A nice selection of snacks and small bites too. After years of visiting Cambridge this bar is now our ‘go to’ drinks venue.

Got to try the new menu by the new Head Chef Sam - I saw a preview and booked ASAP 🥳 Suckling pig taco tasted more delicate than normal pork BUT the pork was in a cube with perfect guacamole on a hard taco..........defying expectations on aesthetics! The lamb was a knockout in flavour - deep, rich - with the courgette & mint salads making the dish look even more vibrant 🤤 Here, the Chef pours the jus/gravy in the centre of the plate 😎 The banana soufflé with miso caramel + run & raisin ice cream also superb! They pour over the caramel & drop in the ice cream for you which I would rather do myself BUT having tasted the miso caramel by itself, it's better mixed in. The salt/umami alone is a bit overpowering. Max also gave me a solid red wine recommendation (the French Pinot Noir) that I was already leaning towards but a small taste of the Chilean light red sealed the decision.........former wouldn't stand up to the lamb dish. Also, the fruity but dry worked with the dessert too!
