Delicious meal, as always. Really a cut above your average cafe/restaurant and I like it particularly because there's always a good choice of vegetarian meals. One of the patrons is vegetarian, which makes a huge difference.

Our second visit to restaurant 1812 and it was just as the first, absolutely perfect. I’ve marked all aspects of this restaurant as five stars and I standby it. We have already started making plans for our next visit when we will be bringing our friends with us.

About the restaurant
Rocky Bottoms started out as an 1800s brick kiln with a purpose to fire bricks. Eventually the brick kiln was unable to compete with larger competitors and closed down after WW2. Since this time the brick kiln has offered itself as agricultural storage until it collapsed and stood derelict.

In 2008 the brick kiln’s potential and need of restoration was spotted by local fishing family; The Matthews. After years of love and attention, Rocky Bottoms, as we know it today was born. Our doors opened in May 2015, just in time for the start of the crab season. We deliver local shellfish from pot to plate in a laid back environment. Rocky Bottoms believes in enjoying the simpler things in life!

Love Rocky Bottoms! The staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and fast service in spite of it being a busy lunchtime. I had crab salad with new potatoes - my salad was beautifully dressed and the whole meal was simple but absolutely perfect, just divine. My friends all had fish and chips which they all said were excellent. Keep up the good work!

Salhouse
About the restaurant
Welcome to the Lodge at Salhouse, we are a family run pub occupying a charming 19th century vicarage. The pub has recently been renovated, including comfortable bedrooms set in seven acres of countryside garden.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by the picturesque Norfolk Broads, while Salhouse boasts numerous scenic walks for both guests and four-legged friends to enjoy.

The neighbouring village of Wroxham provides plentiful amenities including a department store, local shops and cafes, and is popular with holidaymakers wishing to hire boats - we would all agree that one of the best ways to experience the Broads is on the water!

Norfolk also boasts 90 miles of award-winning coastline, with lots of variety to explore. From sandy beaches and rugged cliffs to salt marshes, there really is a beach for everyone! Here at the Lodge our closest stretch of beach is only a half-hour drive away.

About the restaurant
‘Great British food in a striking riverside mill’

A true hidden gem, Sculthorpe Mill is a breath taking pub buried in the heart of the glorious Norfolk countryside built atop the River Wensum. Originally a watermill dating back to 1757, it has been lovingly restored by sisters Siobhan and Caitriona Peyton and they have created a haven for foodies and pub lovers alike, as well as one of the best pub gardens in Norfolk. This is a stunning contemporary dining pub, complete with chic bedrooms and a menu of expertly crafted modern British dishes.

Sculthorpe Mill’s seasonal menu changes regularly to make the most of Norfolk’s bountiful produce and all our core ingredients are locally sourced, foraged from land and sea before being passionately turned into award-winning dishes.

Come spring and summer, our garden is the ideal pace to enjoy an evening meal alfresco, or even just a crisp glass of rosé as you listen to the rush of the river or the buzzing of bees in the flower garden.

Lovely venue and very friendly and efficient staff. Nice atmosphere. Food was very good and although slightly more expensive than some of the nearby pubs it was worth it. Would definitely recommend.
