Contemporary American
San Jose
About the restaurant
Our player pianos make us unique! But our food makes us special. We feature rich European-influenced American dishes using things like:
- Eggs from vegetarian-fed free-range chickens, high in healthy Omega 3 fatty acids
- White whole wheat flour, a variety naturally high in fiber yet light enough for pastry
- Vegetables from local farms that are certified organic growers
- Butter, milk, and ice cream from grass-fed cattle, another Omega 3 source.

Our food is not low-fat or low-calorie, but its ingredients are healthful. The meal will leave you feeling reinvigorated, not weighed down!

Out of the way, neighborhood, small restaurant next to the San Jose Stage company. Reasonable prices, limited menu and wine list keeps food very fresh. Enjoyed the strawberry, blue cheese salad, sea bass on a bed of zucchini and potatoes, plus a sorbet with fruit. The Sauvignon Blanc went very well with the meal.

About the restaurant
Mägo is a family owned and operated fine dining restaurant from Chef Mark Liberman. We offer a tasting menu cooked over wood fire, offering our take on Contemporary Colombian fare, anchored in an understanding of using Northern California ingredients, simple flavors in bold combinations.

Our tasting menu focuses on ingredients that are at their most peak in deliciousness .This usually means produce that is in season, which in turn means they are their most flavorful, which is one of the reasons why we change our menu daily.

The restaurant’s informal atmosphere features an open kitchen surrounded by intimate tables, outdoor heated garden patio and chefs counter seating. From the warm greeting you receive upon entering until your final goodbye, we invite you to feel at home.

What does Emporio mean? It’s market where you can get a variety of things you need. Today in small villages in Italy, the Emporio is the center of life. Villagers visit the Emporio daily to socialize, share local happenings, and get their local fresh goods, cheese, pasta, sandwiches, and bread.

Passione is bringing a little piece of Italian small village life to you, here in Berkley. Our mission at Passione Emporio is to create a neighborhood restaurant that has the same feel of community and quality as old village Emporios. We source only the best local ingredients and craft them with traditional Italian recipes to make delicious food, with vegan options, along with an authentic array of Italian and locally sourced food and wine.

Our rotating wine bar offers a selection of Italian, Californian and European wines and beers with Prosecco at the center of the list to accompany Italian salami and cheese plates during happy hour.

Fish soup was a letdown, fish a bit overcooked. Wagyu would have been much better if it had been cooked to order just before plating, instead of rewarmed.

Wonderful waitress, kind and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our service at the sushi counter, the unfiltered sake & bubbly. A robust menu with tasty starters and appetizers. Austere design & elegant decor is appreciated. We met the owner and discussed his vision. We hope this business thrives and survives in Sebastopol.
