This is a top tier restaurant. Too bad it's too loud - even for early diners

Best spot for drinks and dinner with friends family or a date. I love coming here and I always leave feeling happy and satisfied. The chicken with mushroom asparagus and white wine sauce is my favorite and the only dish that would get me to honestly and happily pick chicken over pasta though their pasta dishes are wonderful as well! Service is always great and it is the perfect neighborhood, intimate, comfortable, Italian restaurant in the city.

Astoria
About the restaurant
VIA VAI is a Chef-Owner run restaurant, serving contemporary and authentic Italian food that one would find in the best restaurants and trattorie in today's Italy.

The restaurant is rustic cozy and charming, with a slate and marble top bar serving only select Italian wines, and local and imported tap and bottled beer, that pair perfectly with the artisanal food prepared every day on the premises, and the brick oven roman-style (thin crust) pizza cooked in the imported Italian oven.

Chef-owner Antonio Morichini is Roman born and bred. He did his culinary education and training in Italy, working in some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in Rome. His food is loyal to tradition, but forward looking.

About the restaurant
Lavagna opened its doors on February 1st 1999.The restaurant offers casual Italian trattoria fare at moderate prices. The vibe is candlelit, cozy, with an old wood burning oven, exposed brick walls, a pressed tin ceiling and a small wine bar where one can dine also. A wall of French doors swing open in the warmer weather to a seasonal sidewalk cafe of 20 seats.
The kitchen concept is to create dishes traditionally Italian, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and product of the highest quality.
The menu highlights include homemade pastas, a wood oven roasted fish for two, roast pork chop, baby rack of lamb and of course the rigatoni with sweet and spicy sausage that has become a classic over the years.
The wine list has been a yearly recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2002 and it focuses on hard to find wines from regional Italy along with other international selections.

Overall experience was very good. I arrived way early but was temporarily seated at a small table and was able to order a drink and small appetizer. Once inside the food was good and the service continued to be excellent. Quality also fine.

About the restaurant
Our earliest childhood memories include making homemade tomato sauce in our Nonna’s driveway located in Corona, Queens. Being apart of five children, we all had our jobs. From cleaning bushels of raw tomatoes to jarring the sauce with fresh basil there was always enough made so you never left Sunday dinner hungry. Made at our family owned restaurant, Villaggio, you can now enjoy our family recipes. It’s the closest thing to our Nonnas driveway. “Come to Villaggio, where your treated like family” - Bon Apetito! Il Monello is simply wonderful. It is an amazing restaurant to have in our neighborhood. The food is delicious, the service impeccable and the ambience attractive. I have dined here many times and will continue to do so in the future. I have only one criticism and it relates to paying the bill. As do many restaurants, Il Monello surcharges diners 4% for using a credit card. Given their pricing structure, one would need to be carrying quite a bit of cash to avoid using a credit card. I think that ownership should evaluate the downside of jeopardizing a really great experience with this extra charge. It really leaves a bad taste in one's mouth to have to pay for using a credit card. Either dispense with it or build it into your pricing. An extra dollar or two on a dish that is built into the price is not nearly as offensive as the 4% surcharge. Food for thought....

TriBeCa
About the restaurant
Scalini Fedeli ranked among New York's finest restaurants since its opening in early 2004, taking Italian cuisine to new heights. Rewarded with the highest overall ratings in the Zagat Survey, Scalini Fedeli has been granted one star by the Michelin guide in it's inaugural 2006 issue. The inviting decor features vaulted ceilings and European antiques and provides the perfect setting for chef Michael Cetrulo's delightful cuisine which offers the finest ingredients coupled with a confidence and grace that ensures your meal will be a memorable one. Menu highlights include soft egg yolk raviolo with ricotta and truffle butter and New York's finest venison chop in a port wine and balsamic vinegar sauce with toasted hazelnuts, sautéed spinach and roasted Mission figs. The 350-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy but also does justice to the best American wineries.
