Our server Megan was outstanding. The Luncheon was a reunion of friends who had last met 23 years ago at this same restaurant. We had a lot of catching up to do over drinks. We were the first lunch patrons to arrive at 11:50 AM and the last lunch patrons to leave at 3:50 PM. Megan was very patient with us and did not rush us at all. She even agreed to take a picture of us in the same location in the restaurant that we posed 23 years before.
The food was as excellent as we remembered. 3 of us ordered the "Boss's Veal" and one person ordered the veal cutlet. The desserts were also great.
We were all pleased by the service, food and atmosphere of the Saloon.
Thank you all for another great dining experience. Had drinks at the bar and Marty made an exceptional Martini and Old Fashioned. Krista, our server, was friendly and professional. The lobster francaise is amazing! I order it every time. A special thank you to Mark for helping make our night special. Already looking forward to our next visit!
What a great night! I've been coming to The Saloon for 25yrs, mostly for special occasions since it is pricey. I've never had anything but an excellent meal here. The Filet Moda is the best steak I've had anywhere. My husband and I shared that and a scallop special that was delicious too. Shared a beet salad special to start, and finished with the berry crisp...sooo good! Our waitress was spot on, as usual. I'm always amazed how consistently great their service and food are. Highly recommended!
I would certainly recommend Saloon to my friends on days other than Saturday. We felt very rushed and were told it's the restaurant's policy to not take appetizer orders before food orders. Therefore we had to make a quick decision for our entree after deciding on appetizer. Next time I would skip the appetizer. They had at least 10 specials that the waitress dictated to us, but it was nearly impossible to remember all of them. Specials really should be written down on at least ONE physical menu on the table. I was happy with the meal I ordered but the rush of having our dinner immediately plopped after appy not ideal for an anniversary celebration. Or any meal for that matter. Waitress told us they only have this policy in place for Saturday night. So go any other day to enjoy your meal and the beautiful surroundings of this fantastic spot.
This restaurant should be on the National Historic Registry it is so interestingly appointed. Everywhere you look there is another treat for the eyes. The variety and preparation of the entrées speaks to why this landmark has thrived since the 1950s. The pricing will limit us to special occasions or an occasional happy hour. The abundant and more importantly FREE parking was a welcome surprise. The staff could not have been more warm and inviting, I got a history lesson from the maître d’ concerning some of the decorations. We could not have been happier with our experience.
The food was outstanding, as it always has been. Service was excellent. The prices are high but I suppose that's to be expected. You can taste the quality in every bite.
Saloon is a wonderful place. Great atmosphere, service, and superb food. Now that I have been there once, I plan to become a regular. And it’s one of the few places with parking.
Outstanding food and service!
Always delicious ! One of our favorites.
Outstanding in all areas... good was prepared exactly as ordered and was delicious.
Our server was very knowledgeable , courteous and a GREAT ambassador got The Saloon.
Will definitely return.
I have not been to the Saloon in maybe 10 years since I moved to Suburbs. What a great choice it was , The place is beautiful with so much character. The food was great along with the help of Anthony great guy. Had broccoli rabe and beans reminded me of my moms food. I really enjoyed it and will be back again.
I’ve been a visitor to the Saloon dozens of times over the last 35 years or so. Hadn’t been in a few years until Saturday May25. Still love the ambience; the service was great. However, I found the food to be quite disappointing. Had a shrimp dish that was basically tasteless shrimp served over greasy hash browns.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had.
We had a wonderful experience. The bartender and service staff were excellent- attentive and friendly. The food, from the appetizers to the dessert, was excellent. We highly recommend a visit.
Last visit was 20 years ago and this experience was just the same. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!
The food and the service by Anthony was outstanding.
Excellent food and excellent service
We rarely write reviews but our dinner and dining experience was worthy of great accolades because it ranks as one of the best ever. We always enjoy The Saloon, eat there fairly often, but last night was exceptional...we ordered the Osso buco feature and it was perfection. The chef never disappoints but last night...oh, my!!! Our server, Gianna, executed the service flawlessly. She was incredibly attentive in every way, despite the fact that the restaurant was packed and she had many, many tables. Thank you to The Saloon for making our evening so enjoyable. The jazz combo was wonderful, as well!
The food was outstanding as always. Our server was excellent. She was engaged and knowledgeable about the ample daily specials. Our table was in an alcove that was almost like a private dining room. Highly recommended.
Outstanding as usual. The service is friendly but very professional. The ambiance is perfect and the food is always right on!
Place has been in SO. Philly at least 50 years.
Food always good, it never changed.
Like going back even though the entire area changed dramatically
A few of the old places are still there. & so are my memories
Went to celebrate a 20th Birthday - service was excellent - food was even better- great atmosphere for any occasion /celebration - free valet parking adjacent to venue- veal chop grilled perfectly - veal parm and 2 dinner specials were delicious -fresh Italian bread basket with aoli & butter - by request - topped off with crazy good vanilla cream concoction with a homemade cannoli- definitely a return visit in the future!
Love it here. Everything we order is our new favorite. Thus place is the best?
Wonderful for everything. We dined upstairs and really enjoyed the music. The saxophone player was phenomenal
Awesome food and service. Food selection is great.
The food was unbelievable, so delicious. Service was great, everyone was very nice.
Waitresses are the greatest. Pasta was excellent and the problano peppers were done perfect.
This was me & my fiancé’s first time dining here. We went with another couple, we had Alexis as our server she was outstanding! The from the appetizers to the dinner through to the desert and even the cappuccino!! The food was INSANELY delicious, the ambiance was top notch. We were told to request a table upstairs, which we did on our open table reservation, & we got the best table in the house! We will definitely be back! Please do yourself a favor and get the appetizer sampler for two.. it was amazing!
This is our go to restaurant for great Italian food. The best for years and years.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. A true GEM in Philadelphia.
Always a wonderful experience! Service, food and ambiance top notch. Fun time at the bar and a special thank you to our server, Anthony, for great service. The lobster francaise is amazing!! Can’t wait to go back!
Would have liked a better table! Open Table often gets you a table that is not so great!!
We all seemed to enjoy the restaurant
Consistently one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia
Once again, the Saloon made me (and our City) look good to a client from out of town!
The waiters was good the ambience is quaint but nice the appetizers were good Drinks were small and pricey but overall they were good. The entree Was big enough for 2 people. The tart that I got for dessert was great. My overall experience of the saloon was an B plus.
Wow!. This Philadelphia landmark never disappoints. The service, menu, food are just perfect. I cannot wait to go back again and again. This is a gem.... MANGIA
