A Truly extraordinary dinning experience. Communal seating and some dishes are served family style. The passion and work that go into the meal, service and wine pairing are fully on display and are truly authentic. It felt like being welcomed into a friends home without the need to bring a host gift. MoreOpenTable Diner -

At Maxwella Café & Bar, we believe that community is what nurtures, inspires, and feeds the soul.
Maxwella Café & Bar represents the long-held vision that owner Taylor Hoang has had of creating a space in which simplicity is cherished, time slows, and conversations start. Named after her two children, Ella and Maxwell, Maxwella Café & Bar is dedicated to bringing you locally sourced produce, seasonal fruits, artisan pastries and bread, great coffee and traditional home-cooked recipes. These dishes not only gather everyone around the table but also introduce taste buds to new experiences.
Our Café is built to serve the community in which it operates, with family areas for busy moms and dads looking for a little reprieve and also quiet corners for those who want to relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.More
Our town is BLUE: The lakes, bay, river, islands, mountains, sky, and the WWU colors. It is our humble home: our ABODE.
WHAT: We are creating a small locally-based bar that pays homage to the coastal woodsy charm of our blue abode: Bellingham. We will be providing unique liquor, cocktails that feature local distilleries and house-made ingredients, mocktails, local beer, cider, wine, coffee, tea, light food menu, desserts, TVs, local artwork, games, group runs, and more!
WHEN & WHERE: Opening Fall 2017 in Barkley Village
WHO: We are Bellingham locals and WWU alumni: Kurt & Katy Hartmaier (a bartender and a nurse) who are passionate about this town and hospitality. In fact, our kiddos are 6th generation Whatcom County residents...those lucky ducks.
WHY: Our goal is to make enough profit to give back to local charities, support local businesses, and to provide a fun and relaxing environment for the 21+ crowd to gather.
We love Bellingham, our Blue Abode...and our bar will show it! SwMore

The iconic city tucked inside the Pacific northwest coast does see a lot of rain, but when the sun shines on Seattle, it dazzles. Don’t miss the chance to dine at one of the many waterfront restaurants serving oysters and Pacific-caught seafood. Take a stroll downtown and wander in and out of bookshops and bakeries. Arguably the birthplace of American coffee culture, there’s hardly a better place to enjoy leisurely lattes accompanied by hours of computing and the occasional pen and paper sketch.
