Serpico - Philadelphia
Serving dinner only, the cuisine is ingredient-driven offering a seasonally evolving menu of playful yet familiar takes on global fare. A small hand-picked list of food-friendly wines will perfectly complement the menu and a quality cocktail program will focus on boutique spirits.
Amazing - start to finish. Sick open kitchen and elevated service. Will be back!
Vey imaginative food - combinations you would never think of. May ceviche appetizer was excellent and a beautifully presented dish, the Japanese eggplant was good but a little disappointing., we had mushroom noodles that were very good. For our main courses we had halibut which was superb and pork belly which I was not crazy about. The Apple Cake desert was fantastic.
That atmosphere is also unique. Open kitchen - if you elect to sit at the bar, there you have a front row seat to see the food being prepared. Tables are very close together which is the only drawback on the ambiance.
Our server was the perfect waitress - incredibly enthusiastic about the food, very helpful but not intrusive.
Food was delicious...especially the duck leg, the enoki mushrooms, the NY strip, and chocolate pudding dessert. Our server was also fantastic. Great service.
Tables were a little too close to other tables and they didn't have the bottle of wine we asked for that was listed on the menu.
Since Serpico landed at #9 on Philly’s 2018’s Top 50 restaurants, I thought it was time to revisit after a couple of years. Rating justified! It is a gem, sitting on a nondescript block of South St. Eating at the open kitchen counter, with the eponymous chef right in front of us, we could watch the seamless orchestration in an immaculate kitchen- a testament to quality control The food was superb. Highlights were the ceviche and venison. Interesting cocktail list, knowledgeable, friendly server and a cool room, even if you choose not to sit at counter. Peter Serpico is still there cooking and serving, keeping the standards high. He is not a conversationalist, but don’t hold it against him. Just let him cook!
This was my third time at Serpico and it was perfect, once again! For starters, we hit horrible traffic on our way to the restaurant, and were over 30 minutes late for our reservation. The staff was so nice and accommodating and still sat us as soon as we arrived. The food is innovative and delicious, and the cocktails are beautiful and unique. Great vibe, and romantic ambiance! Will be returning.
Great food and amazing service/friendly staff. Food was a bit overpriced for the very small dishes. But did taste great.
Our server, Michael, was a pleasure, as was all the staff. Even more, though, I always leave Serpico thinking the same thing: why don’t I come here more? The food is always DELICIOUS! Just an all-around great place.
We had a great experience at Serpico!
I wish I could give Serpico more than 5 stars! It is our go-to place for special occasions. The food always both creative and flawlessly prepared: we love the enoki mushrooms and the scallops and get them every time, but there are also always new, equally delicious, offerings. The wine list is excellent, and the atmosphere is elegant without being the least bit stuffy. The service is as warm and welcoming as one could possibly ask; everyone there is always so kind, and we love coming back.
Never disappointing. Service has always been outstanding. Menu is always inventive and dishes are excellent. Highly recommend a visit.
Overall my wife and I had a nice experience at Serpico. Service was fantastic, wine was terrific and the food overall was pretty good. The one exceptional entree we had was the halibut. Perfectly cooked and the savory carrot cake was really nice as well. Went on a weekday so it was quiet and the ambience was really nice.
Went here for my birthday. Food was interesting but in a great way! Loved everything we ordered!
Probably My favorite Philly restaurant right now! Everything is terrific! The food is so flavorful - nothing wasn’t absolutely delicious. And the service is just great. Our waiter was attentive but never hovered and very well versed on the menu and wine list. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Amazing food and cocktails. Every dish was mouthwatering. It’s pricey but I can’t wait to come back!
It was good but for how expensive it was and how small the portions were it wasn't in my opinion worth it.
My wife and I went for New Years eve, and had an A+ experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable about everything on (and off) the menu, including all of the many liquors and wines that were available. Despite his depth of knowledge, it never felt like he was lecturing us or overstaying his welcome at the table, he was the perfect guide to the evening. The food was as advertised...very cleverly done in both presentation and flavor. The courses came out relatively quickly given their punctiliousness, and the waiter advised us to get just the right amount of food. We don't eat meat (but do eat fish), yet we didn't find the menu to be too restrictive for us.
Serpico never dissapoints. The food, service & ambiance is perfect.
Everything was perfect. Thanks
Excellent, imaginative food with attentive service.
Everything about Serpico was stellar!!!
Really enjoyed the waiter, Lopi!!!
Absolutely amazing food,atmosphere and music!!!
The atmosphere was great, loved he floor plan and the counter seating area. Food was delicious and waitstaff was amazing!
Ordered the diver scallops, hamachi, enoki mushrooms w truffle, steamed egg custard, venison, and maple panna cotta. Needless to say everything was amazing, and service was on point. Loved the subtle Asian/Korean influences. One of the best meals I’ve had this year!
The creativity of the menu is fabulous. Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted even better!! A great evening with amazing staff. Can’t wait for our next visit.
Excellent fare and some unusual entrees. Not for everyday but nice for a treat.
Great food and service was especially good.
One of the best meals ever.
Loved the apple cake dessert.
Delicious! Very interesting menu. Attentive and friendly staff.
5 star experience in every way. Serpico rivals Vernick for restaurant supremacy in Philadelphia.
Serpico is consistently delicious!
Chefs table is great
Incredible and creative, very unique and special with a great open kitchen. The raw diver scallops are insane!!!
There are many good reasons we come back time and again, but the food is primary.
I have been to Serpico several times and the food, service, experience is always outstanding. The sometimes unusual combination of flavors and textures is so special and delicious. Chances are you will be eating something unlike anything you have ever had before. The food is also always so well explained - which is really needed and appreciated! The wines are also excellent.
Everything was amazing! The scallops and duck were fabulous and I would highly recommend them! Service and cocktails were also outstanding!
It was our first time dining at Serpico. Enjoyed the creative yet delicious dishes and very personal feeling services! Celebrated our special day there with little surprise from Serpico! Highly recommend!
Food was awesome- so was the service! Perfect for a special occasion.
Second time here and loved it both times. Love sitting at the “bar” around the kitchen and watching the dishes get prepped. Everything is meticulously prepared, unexpected and full of complex flavor.
Jammmed seating, miniscule portions, loud, after the fourth of fifth appetizer (even the "entrees" are tiny... the salmon entree had less than 2 ounces of salmon) everything started tasting the same... the place is trying to be a low-end Morimoto... two of our party know a fair amount about wine... had never heard of most of the bottles... that's because the list is comprised of various twistoff bottles that retail for $12 to $18... and are marked up to $65 and more. We must be the exception though, because the place was positively jammed... the power of millennial's with more credit cards than sense. Avoid, go elsewhere, and use savings towards your student loans.
Most pleasant. Staff friendly and efficient. Food is excellent.
The food was excellent, the Hamachi was so good we ordered a second order. All the fish is wonderful. My gripe is twofold, we sat at the chefs counter and were not even looked at, they only time we were acknowledged was when I mentioned that the Hamachi was excellent and the soups chef grunted something. I’ve been here 7 times since it opened and the Sake program is now at an all time low of two offerings, both by the bottle, one is priced at $88 the other $310 and they were out of the $88 selection. When I spoke to the Chef/Co-Owner he blamed the poor selection on the PLCB and that there’s a misconception that Serpico is an Asian Restarant.
High end creative dining. Small but varied menu. Excellent for single or group dining.
