The Chocolate Sanctuary
Food was excellent! Service was a little slower than usual but all was good!
Our group of women had a wonderful time with comfortable conversation and The Food is wonderful and the Service is Exceptional. Overall a very welcoming environment.
We go to Chocolate Sanctuary for Sunday brunch. The food is very good, and it's not expensive. We enjoy it.
Modern looking space, creative menu with satisfying portion size of hand crafted plates. Delicious and beautiful presentation. Service members were so attention yet not intrusive. Nice to have the burger/sandwich fare as well if you're interested in a bit lower budget lunch or dinner though enter process fair for upscale meal. Worth every penny!
The food selection and quality have been consistent each time we have gone. It was a h o t day in July when we went with friends. I ordered the Mushroom Burger, grilled to perfection, coco bacon, all full of flavor, special sauce, grilled brioche bun. Came with grilled root vegetables which were fresh, with a ginger glaze. The beet salad is exceptional. They gave us a taste of the mole sauce. Holy Moly! The flavor was spot on...I looked around at other items ordered and they all looked delicious. Highly Recommend!
We (party of 5) came to the Chocolate Sanctuary for a birthday celebration. The dining room wraps around a bar where you can watch food preparation. The dishes (as in the plates and tableware) are very pretty, asymmetrical shapes. The food was very good. But everyone's plates were lukewarm. But the flavors were very good. Desserts are fantastic. Overall this is a very lovely place and great for birthday celebrations and dates
I am an admitted food snob, but I was extremely disappointed in this Sunday brunch. The prime rib was too tough to eat, the eggs benedict were stone cold as was the horrible glob of hollandaise that was inelegantly plopped on top. The waffle with bacon was good, but took quite a wait to prepare. I didn't eat a pastry that I thought was worth a second bite. All baked goods tasted dry and not very flavorful I enjoyed the shrimp, ceviche, and salad and the little spoons of flavor. Everything else, eh. When even the bacon is ice cold, there doesn't seem to be much care involved in the preparation. Relly so much less than I expected.
This is an ideal place for a quiet, enjoyable dinner. Wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Menu is creative with just enough items for everyone. Cocktail menu is great with interesting variations on old favorites. Food is excellent, the six of us all had something different and we were all very pleased. The risotto with scallops was amazing. Save room for dessert.
Great food! Great service!! The chocolate mousse is amazing!!
This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we were quite impressed with the menu and desserts. Our cocktails were suburb and our food was creative and delicious! Cocoa infused food was not something we were prepared for but loved the flavor the cocoa gave to our food. Our dessert was spectacular as in was on a plate above a plate of dry ice. So when water was poured on it the fog began to roll in..................... Made you happy and, of course, dessert was delicious!
Have been the factory a few times and have not been disappointed with food, drinks or service. Not big portions for growing boys. Overall, will continue to support this nice addition to the area.
Interesting menu. Don't be intimidated by the cocoa inspired main courses. Food was very tasty and the deserts are to die for! You can ask for any of the food to be made without the chocolate if you'd like.
They don't rush you at all which is refreshing when you drop $100 for the two of you without drinks.
Omg....the decadent desserts! Everything was perfect; we will be returning. We really appreciated the special anniversary treatment.
The atmosphere and food are fantastic. The menu also provides many different choices. Service was very slow the last time I was there but I am willing to give it another shot.
Great service and excellent
Food. Great for a business meeting.
Took my family for father's day. First time there we had a great time! Food was delicious! Comfortable environment beautiful restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion or just go for brunch or dinner.. just go you won't regret it.
It was an early father’s day celebration... I wanted to take my husband out for dinner before the big celebration on Sunday ! Everything was really good. We both left home really satisfied.
Food was great !!! Service was great !!! Roberto did a great job just like the last time. He was really nice and polite ! Thank you!
The 4 of us were celebrating an anniversary and birthday! We had the best waiter, Michael. He was very aware of when would be an appropriate time to interrupt - we were talkative, haven't seen each other in a while. The food was amazing. We were unsure of the heat in one dish; Michael brought a taste of the sauce. The presentation of the Happy Anniversary was so artistically done, as was the chocolates. He was aware of the fact that we were not drinking alcohol, so the wine glasses were filled with a cranberry/sprite drink. An experience we will be talking about for years. I should also mention, the rest of the staff: waiters filling our glasses, the girl making desserts behind the glass for us to watch (the tower of chocolate Gyro style) , servers with food from the kitchen (picture -worthy plates of divine food!), the hostesses, waiters removing empty dishes... This is a great place to create a lasting memory.
Food is really good, can be pricey not an every day meal
As the name implies, chocolate is used in many very creative and delicious ways. I had never been there before, but found it to be a delightful place for a awesome evening meal. It was a bit pricey, but worth the cost!
Nice peaceful atmosphere, a step up from the chain 'diners' but not intimidating. Good food, large portions, pleasant staff.
My FAVORITE restaurant! A true treasure - especially if you're a chocolate lover! The chocolate butter and Cocoa infused dishes are amazing!!
Date with the wife. Food was good. Service was ok. Waitress forgot specials and was slow bringing food out. Not too crowded. Even put in order for Molten cake(must have) when we got our entrees b/c 20 min lead time and we were still waiting for another ten minutes after we finished the entrees. Hope this server was having an off night. Not sure if I would go back for dinner but definitely for dessert.
Service during lunch time was very great as well as the food. Chicken Marsala I had looked small at first but it actually filled my stomach! The bread with chocolate cream that we got before the meal was fantastic. I would definitely go back!
We had a wonderful experience at The Chocolate Sanctuary. Five of us met for lunch. We were reuniting after over 40 years of being in college together. I made the plans and chose this restaurant by doing a search for places in Gurnee. I was really hoping it would be a great experience for everyone and it truly was! Our sweet waitress even brought us a complimentary dessert to help us celebrate! Everyone in our group truly enjoyed our experience!
My husband and I had a random casual date night. It was our first time trying The Chocolate Sanctuary, and everything was really great. We will definitely be back!
Searched the internet for a place to celebrate a special event with my Grandsons and saw The Chocolate Sanctuary.
I was a little concerned bringing two boys under 7 but we were welcomed by your host.
Agnes, our server, was incredible! Very professional, clearly answered our questions, offered advice to what we might enjoy. . . and WE DID!
It was a great experience and I will be back! Next time, with a large group so we can order the 'fountain'!!
First time there for the Sunday Brunch and was not disappointed. Everything was delicious especially the french toast souffle which was to die for!! Will definitely be back.
We love this restaurant! It was our first time having brunch there. It was amazing! Great value for the many different choices. Service as always was outstanding. We look forward to our next visit.
Our service was very sweet and Attentive. The noise was a little much but there was a large party behind us. The tables alters to be pretty close together.
The food was very good. The dessert was molten cake which was one of the best I have shared with my husband.
Chocolate Sanctuary was recommended by my daughter, who had been there several times. I was leery because of the idea of chocolate being in everything. But it was great. Large selection, and a majority of food items had no chocolate. In many that did, it was subtle. The food I did have was excellent and innovative. Try the deconstructed Caesars salad, wonderful. Added to the good food was impeccable friendly service and nice, clean décor. Should be on everyone's list.
This is the Second time coming to Chocolate Santurary. First Time for Brunch though. Gotta Say we Loved it. An Assortment to choose from, Plus The French Toast Souffle is Awsome. Cant wait to go Back.
Love the Sunday brunch!! Always great service. Our waiter made to check on us constantly to ensure we were ok with drinks, silverware. Great selection of food
Happy to have such a nice restaurant close to home
Nice birthday experience for our special guest with a beautifully presented chocolate mousse happy birthday plate. All of our party enjoyed their selections and the service was great!
I am a frequent diner for brunch and dinner at the Sanctuary. Absolutely love it!
I decided to treat my chocoholic best friend to her birthday dinner here. We made a reservation online and were promptly seated taken care of. The restaurant has a really creative design flow and we loved being able to watch the pastry chef prepare our chocolate fountain. Our server was wonderful and the food was even better. Great selection of beers on tap (though it would have been interesting to see more chocolate brews included in the list). Everything was delicious, but it's a casual enough atmosphere to be able to bring the kids and family. I would most definitely eat here again as well as reccomend it to any chocolate lover
The price is high for the size of portions you get. My order was made wrong. They did fix
it. I went, now I can said I've been there. Won't go back
Very tasty with unique flavors from the chocolate, fish was great very flaky and the shrimp was outstanding
I've been to the Chocolate Sanctuary several times, and they have never disappointed. The staff is ultra-accommodating, and the food is superb.
