Went last night to celebrate our daughter's 26th birthday, it was her choice and our first time here. We were seated fast and our waiter Michael was fantastic. He answered all our questions and made sure he was always around but did not hover over our table. My salmon was excellent, my wife's whitefish trio was cooked to perfection. Our daughter's T-Rex short rib lived up to it's name and was well cooked to melt in your mouth. The deserts were to die for if you're a chocolate lover. Over all the service was top notch, from our server Michael to the others who kept our water glasses full and cleared out plates. Everyone should experience this well managed and pleasurable dining.

Chocolate Sanctuary never disappoints me. I am a regular there. It has always been a pleasant experience for me and the others in my party. Brunch menu is exquisite! For dinner, the squash soup, pasta infused with cocoa, ceviche, even the kids steak is great!

Thank you, Allison! My family of six came here to celebrate my birthday. I reserved ahead on OpenTable, and requested a table (not booth), and an accommodation so we could have a quiet conversation. Wishes fulfilled. Allison was our server, and her cheerfulness, dedication to making us happy, and her going the extra mile to get information we wanted made us have a wonderful evening together. We found the food portions to be as expected, and the flavors were delicious! Despite a little confusion at times getting the right dishes to the right people, these were very quickly corrected with smiles all around. We got there early, and the place filled up around us. We never felt rushed. To top it off, I received a fabulous happy birthday dessert. One of the best I have ever had! Highly recommended.

Probably because it’s in the suburbs this place was nearly empty when we arrived at 5:50 for a 6 PM reservation. We were a little concerned, but sat down. The place is quite large. We ended up sitting in the back room behind a gas fireplace that has purple colored flames in a window box where you can see the flames from either side. The tables are dark, the lighting is semi muted, so it’s not crazily bright but not dark either. Overall it’s a pleasant ambience from a visual perspective.
What really threw me off and brought down this review were two things - the way the food was plated and the really bad, dirty rug smell that was permeating the air in the back room. It is a well-known tenant of the restaurant business that you don’t put carpeting in a restaurant unless you are so high-end that you can clean it (meaning shampoo it) every single night. This place is too big with too many people dropping food to be able to clean the carpet well enough.
The service was very nice, they didn’t have two of the draft beers on the menu but they had a third that worked. The pear martinis were fantastic, slightly sweet but not too much, with a nice lime tartness. A thin slice of D’anjou pear topped it. Our fourth diner ordered a Manhattan straight up but they brought it on the rocks. He did not request that it be changed. Another smallish strike.
The bread service needs to be changed to heat the bread in a regular oven. It came out wrinkled and wet and so fast after sitting down it seemed obvious they used a microwave. They need to offer regular butter along with the very low salt chocolate butter. One more strike.
Beet salad was really nicely seasoned. Calamari appetizer was too small for the price. Ribs tasted warmed over. Green beans on my plate were not good looking, some brown, some green. Roasted root vegetables looked haphazard too but were tasty. The pork chop was overcooked (last strike) but the cocoa bbq sauce was tasty. Hard to return due to rug smell.

I have been here a dozen times or more, usually for special occasions. It is sadly inconsistent. Our waitress was kind and knowledgeable but for a not so busy night each course took was too long.

My daughter who came in on crutches and obviously in pain was the last to be served her meal. Chicken tenders. I think our waitress was as baffled as we were.

Scallops, salmon and filet’s were exceptional as always but one of the pasta dishes was over salted and didn’t resemble the description on the menu. All in all the experience was not great due to the delays. Almost a 2 hour dinner.

I visited the ChocoIate Sanctuary for brunch and felt the food was mediocre as was the service. Some items were tasty like the omelets cooked to order. There was not a wait at this station. However, the "wafflepops" - which were very popular - and also cooked to order, involved a long wait. Patrons were given a number, so they could return to their table while the "pops" were being cooked. My daughter's "pop" was not ready before we had to leave about 20-25 minutes later. Deserts varied in tastiness and my friend and I were never offered a second cup of coffee and had to ask for it.
While the atmosphere was attractive, I would not likely return.

It was brunch and very good. The pastries and sweets are what they do best and they were up to their usual excellence. The kids loved the waffle pops and thought they were special because they were given claim checks when they ordered. It was a little awkward to then have to wait in another line for bacon to be handed to them. If you have more than one station to wait through, it seems bacon and sausage, etc. could be at both. Otherwise, we liked it and go there every couple of months, usually for dinner. Service is great, water glasses and other drinks kept full and didn’t seem rushed.

Bartender made an excellent Sidecar & Hennessy Manhattan. The Sanctuary Burgers were cooked perfectly. One medium rare the other medium well. Chocolate dusted homemade potato chips addictive. One of the best burgers in the area. Brioche bun held up to the juicy medium rare burger.

The Waiter was very forgetful and not attentive. It was like we weren’t even there sometimes he forgot to bring drinks forgot to tell us the specials. And we they brought desert we had no silverware and sat there for at least 10 mins trying to get someone’s attention before I got up and just took some off another table so we could get out of there. It was my wife’s birthday and it wasn’t very special.

Appetizer was “butternut toast”. It was bread that looked like it had been toasted, but cold and stale, and what’s on top was tasteless. I asked for my pork chop medium and it was so dries out and way past well done. The side had no taste. It was awful, and I’m not picky. And the prices are high for what it is. Don’t waste your money. The service was great On a positive note.

I would have liked to know it was a special, very limited menu. Only 5 entrees. I don’t eat red meat so that left 3. Our first time there and probably won’t go back. Taste of food was just average. No wow taste. Badly needed salt. I had the Salmon and tasted like I could have gotten it in any restaurant. For the price was not what I expected. Best thing we ate was the dessert

Appetizers were inconsistent. Lobster bisque had almost no flavor. Corn fritters were fantastic. My wife’s filet was prepared as ordered but once again had little flavor. The same was true for my Salmon. The desserts were excellent, peanut butter pie and crepe brûlée. Service was poor including drink reorders, food pacing and want felt like a desire to turn the table despite not being overly busy on New Years Eve. Would go back for drinks and deserts but not for a meal.

New Years Eve dinner for two. The special 4 course menu for the evening was excellent. Started with a complimentary glass of Presecco. Wife had filet & I had NY strip. Cooked to perfection. Sides & first course were spectacular. And the dessert menu was amazing. The chocolate mousse mist...incredible. Service could not be better. Every employee that took care of us was friendly and attentive to us.

This was my 2nd time for brunch. The 1st time was for VDay; despite having a reservation, the wait at hostess stand was 30+min 5 more mins later we were seated. We were hungry, so got up to eat but no plates to be found anywhere. I asked at the waffle station where I might find plates when I asked about the status, she just said no, they weren't ready. I waited about 10 more mins we sat for 10min w/o even being acknowledged or getting drinks; I had to flag down a passing waitress to ask for something since we were eating & had nothing. The plates were often missing from the buffet & items weren't replenished very quickly. It's too bad because the food is good, but the service here is SEVERELY lacking. I'd like to return with a friend but I'd be embarrassed to have her experience this service if I'm treating her.

We were rather disappointed in this dining experience. It was our first, and likely last, visit. For some reason I was expecting more of a fine dining experience than this turned out to be. Food was mostly meh. Calamari was over-breaded with a pile of parmesan in the middle of the stack. My $28 scallop meal was comprised of three medium-sized scallops and some not-very-creamy risotto with a few bits of asparagus in it. The T-Rex style short rib was tasty, but also overpriced. Beet salad and soup were decent. The atmosphere on a Saturday evening seemed to involve a lot of children, one of whom moved with her dad to the table next to ours, which shared a bench seat with us, and proceeded to bounce all over the bench as she consumed even more sugar. Don't think we'll return.
