What Insiders Are Saying
The Clocktower in the Edition Hotel is a Flatiron facsimile of a popular restaurant in London. And it works here just as well as it works over there.
Food value is amazing, we had the pre fixed lunch and the portions of the food were larger and we expected. The taste of the chicken was great except it was a bit salty. Food overall were salty but very delicious
Food was mostly outstanding. Best dishes were the strip steak and the duck. The uni was a disappointment. Oyters always good. The wine recommendation was the biggest disappointment. Was not at all what the sommelier described and was kind of a waste of $180. I would go again but stick with a wine I know is good.
Some of the staff seem a bit green, but overall service was excellent. Worth the Michelin star, minus the sommelier.
This was a great experience. We have lived in Manhattan a long time and eat at many high level places. This was really quite excellent. Great ambience in the dining room. Service was impeccable. Really pleasant and attentive. Not stuffy. Food was excellent. Well seasoned and tasty. All in all, really impressed. It is definitely expensive but less stuffy than other places that charge the same and food and service great. So nice as a Manhattan resident to not be disappointed by a place. Thank you!
One of the most amazing meals ever!
Poor service. Ridiculously small drink pours. Food wasn’t prepared to temperature. We gave it a second try and it was even worse than the first time.
Visited again for a friend's birthday and everyone was amazing. Thank you Nina, Bobby, and Arthur making my DILL. Home run celebration. He was impressed.
Some of the food was very salty and afterwards you might have room for a slice of pizza
Not good, overpriced for what you get. Wouldn’t go back.
Excellent food, service and décor. In fact, décor with three separate dining rooms is truly unique and fascinating littered w/ pictures displayed everywhere. Very well done. Food is great, well-presented and served nobly.
Great place for special occasion, quiet date or family get together.
It was a fabulous choice for a NYE dinner. The menu was outstanding, the service attentive at all times and the ambience was elegant and relaxed with a perfect mood set by a great ensemble playing perfectly curated tunes.
Consistently great food and wonderful service.
Always such a wonderful experience. Our server was exceptional and we truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The question should be asked: why does this establishment possess a Michelin star? On a recent evening, the food was very uneven. A salad was very good, but the steak ($65) was boring, even nondescript. Certain dishes such as the macaroni and cheese and hamburger are clearly meant to be showstoppers but tended to be (both of them) a soggy mess instead. Service was okay, but hardly high energy. Requests were forgotten or ignored. All and all, I would not bother with this restaurant unless you are staying at the hotel and cannot be bothered to eat at any number of superior restaurants nearby.
Amazing dining experience with amazing food!
Excellent Food and Quiet Atmosphere. Very understated elegance. We were visiting New York City for Christmas Celebration for 3 days. We had dinners in several restaurants around the city. This was our choice for a Romantic Quiet Dinner. Everything was superb.
Exquisite food with perfect presentation and portion. Everything we ate we thoroughly enjoyed!
This was our second Christmas at The Clocktower. We love it for holidays and special occasions. It’s also great for dinner.
Overpriced definitely not good value for money
food quality not good poor choice on menu
We eat all over the world in 1 2 and 3 Michlin star restaurant Don’t mind paying for a good quality food this was NOT
We were disappointed with the menu, when we booked online it stated a 5 course menu for $125 per person and we chose this restaurant because of the menue, even the English couple beside us booked for the same reason.
The food was too different for a Christmas lunch. The service was very good,
Really good lunch for Christmas day. Excellent wine matching.
Greeted by a waiter whose first words where that the kitchen was closing and we had to get our order in as soon as possible. We were not a late walk-in, but had reserved our party of 6 several weeks prior. We had eaten there about a year ago and did enjoy enough to return, but something has changed. The food we ordered was poorly prepared and made me comment that the chef was trying to hard to make something unusual looking, loosing site of the ingredients and and flavor. It was also seriously overpriced.
Great Christmas Eve date.
Great way to experience Chef Jason Atherton's cuisine without having to go to London. Great food, service and ambience overall. We went for dinner but would love to go back to try breakfast / brunch.
Nice food and mood for couples.
Apple tart was exceptional.
Truly exceptional on every level.
Overpriced dinner with scanty portions of both entrees and wine pourings. $20 for a glass of an average Sancerre? Really? This is a restaurant for expense account anorexics.
Beautiful rooms paired with solid food and middling service. Don’t worry about upwelling us on campaign and lock down the basics of service and you’ll make out better for it in the long run.
Too noisy, unbearable.
Very noisy. Disorganized.
Waiting for the booked table 1/2 hour.
I hate to be that guy.....The Mushroom Appetizer was the most repulsive Bizarre thing i have ever seen...Never asked of we want another drink, Wine....Forgot Potato dish...and then still charged for both. 9 top had all the attention... $150 for what?
I don't have a public comment.111111111111111111111111
Personally I wasn’t very excited with the food. My steak was cold. The sauce it was served with had a thick layer over it, telling me it sat in the window for a while before being served. The flavor profiles were just blah.
Very limited menu for brunch. The brunch options are mostly breakfast as you would expect but all three lunch options were beef. Very odd that if you are going to offer lunch options for brunch (we had 1:00 pm reservations) no chicken or fish just beef.
Beautiful restaurant, lofted ceilings. Good ambience and noise level. In terms of the food, we ordered the uni + caviar supplement as the appetizer and the côte de boeuf for two. I thought the uni portions were on the smaller side and the dish was crushed by the overpowering daikon that i could barely taste the uni and caviar. I don’t think those flavors serve well to complement the delicate uni. The côte de boeuf was incredible, especially the truffle green bean salad. The meat was cooked perfectly but the standout was the bone marrow jus. So flavorful and perfect. In terms of service, our servers were nice, but in terms of attentiveness I had my glass filled once the entire meal (it was less than half empty once I got my entree) and i got my bread plate and butter knife taken away while i was in the middle of eating it and they never came to bring me a fresh plate so i couldn’t put my bread down. At the same time I got crumbs cleaned 4-5 times during my meal. Lastly, it took almost 30 minutes from when we finished dinner until we got the check - i assumed the slowness was because they were making petit fours for us (we watched them serve it to both tables next to us) but we never got any....
Super uneven performance service wise, which is disappointing for this price point. I was impressed by the côte de boeuf to maybe come back to try their fish and chips during lunch...
Above and beyond what I thought it was going to be.
What an exceptional restaurant!!! When you enter it is like going to a great friends home...should they be hospitable billionaires....Anyway, great cocktails and starters. Dinner was absolutely exquisite - I could have the halibut every night. The service is what you think you dream you are going to get when you take friends from out of town to impress. Dinner was in honor of a friend's birthday and she was treated like a Queen from the moment she approached the hostess table to her exit...(WHO ever gets a wonderful effusive goodbye and a "Come Again!" from a waiter these days?) We did. AND he put up with all our crazy ordering.
So, since I booked the place, I arrived smiling and left smiling more. If you want to have a lavish evening where you see every dollar spent - and for once it's worth it - high tail it to The Clocktower!!!! You will not be disappointed. I promise.
For the price point (expensive) and the Michelin Star, I expected better service and greater attention to detail. The food is tasty and what you would expect at this price point. The portions are not overly large but are filling. Everything we ordered was good. The triple cooked chips (fries to us Yanks) are a standout.
We arrived for our early booking - the restaurant was still empty. A sommelier introduced himself and then disappeared. We ordered our bottle from our server.
Our food took a very long time to come out, which i noted to our server. She spoke with the manager and the manager got our dessert, which was a kind gesture. I don’t think my water glass ever got refilled without my prompting.
The room is beautiful - a very clubby feel. And even when it filled up, the dining room still felt tranquil. Servers bring food out on large rectangular trays, which adds to the presentation.
I've been here 3 times now and the food for lunch and breakfast is fantastic.....
I've been here numerous times, and recently I've seen some decline with the food as well as the overall decor and feel of the place. What used to be white tablecloth and very dapper interior, now feels somewhat like a mid-level finance steakhouse. I think they can turn this around, but was unimpressed this time. That said, the service remains great.
