    The restaurant provided a fantastic variety of food options for different diners! They were very accommodating with allergies and happy to answer questions regarding the menu. The waitstaff were knowledgeable on the menu and had a dynamic way of engaging customers in the conversation.

    Made reservations based on recommendations. Seated in back room that had cold air blowing on us. Our food order came to the table uncomfortably quickly. Their specialty lobster order was mediocre and the mussel appetizer had no bread side and nor did the mussel sauce deserve it. Prices appeared excessive in terms of value for taste

    Service was great, and the food was good but not outstanding which is what we were expecting, especially for the price. The apps were really good (Tuna tartare and crab cakes). Our mains were good but again, nothing spectacular. We had the five fish experience (lobster was a bit overdone), the salmon (it was great), shrimp linguine (it was good) and the shellfish linguine, which was mediocre. The pasta could have used a bit more sauce as it was a bit dry; it just lacked flavour. The shrimp were a bit over cooked and the mussels were tiny and completely over cooked. For a restaurant that is known for seafood, we were a little disappointed as we had very high expectations based on what we had heard. Again, far from horrible, but didn’t meet our expectations.

    Great seafood and drinks and the service was excellent! I had a delectable specialty cocktail and we shared oysters Rockefeller which had just a light touch of cheese so the oysters flavor came thru and was a perfect appetizer. Our waitress Laura recommended the halibut which was done to perfection. My wife had the lobster Thermidor which was also delicious. We both had desserts - the chocolate was creamy and dark and the berries in rice pudding was nice and light. Everything about the meal was wonderful- nice people, warm atmosphere, great food.

    Nice meal at the 5 Fisherman. The service was excellent. Attentive and professional. The food was very good. We had the crab cakes, halibut and swordfish. Each was very tasty. A little bit of a splurge on price but a nice experience.

    We were 4 people and two of us had an adequate size portion. The other two had a fish dish ( swordfish and hallibut) and this was - compared to the chicken and pasta dish of the other two people - a very small portion. The fish was good but only a few slices of mini patatoes and 4 slices of carrot. Nicely presented though, but for most people not considered a sufficient meal size.

    I would have given them a 5 start but the food was over cooked. I had the rack of lamb which is very hard to find in NS. It was good but over cooked. They didn’t ask my husband or myself how we wanted our meat cooked. Also, I found it slightly off putting having 7 staff members greet us when we walked inside the restaurant. Besides that, very good service and atmosphere.

    I hadn’t been here for a number of years but wanted to go again based on my past experience. It was everything I remembered and even better with the redesign. The food was outstanding and I took two people who hadn’t been before. Service was terrific. Make your reservation well in advance so as not to miss this gem.

    Shocked after all reviews how very mediocre food was. My lobster thermidore (c$15 more than Bicycle Thief) came out cold; other fish entrees were mediocre. Male server was slammed on a Wed night without cruise ships in town.

    Perhaps we are London-based snubs... but the food was very poor and we rarely write reviews. Fish was totally overcooked. Scallops were like rubber. Halibut was turned into a paste. Salmon too. The risotto was like porridge - unedible. They accepted the criticism and came back with the same issues. Waitress was very professional and we ended up not paying for the main dish but would have preferred to pay and have a decent dinner. This was really a huge disappointment and a cook who has no idea how to cook...

    We had a wonderful experience, the service was excellent, our server was very efficient and friendly with a lovely smile. The food was also excellent, the fish cakes were the best ever tasted. The entire evening was an experience we will remember and would go back there anytime.

    Excellent service from the host to waiter to bus staff. Very busy, but you didn’t feel rushed. The fish, lobster and scallops were perfectly cooked. Great job!

    The experience from the moment we sat down until we left was spectacular. Our server Laura was very good at her job. She was very friendly, professional and knew the menu. She provided suggestions and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The food was hot, flavourful and sooooo good! Totally exceeded our expectations!

    We first went here 30 years ago on our honeymoon and loved it back then. Now, on our 30th anniversary we came back. So much has changed and the place has been totally remodelled. Most importantly though the service, the food and the ambiance here has continued to be amazing! Won’t be 30 years till we visit again!

    I have been to restaurants here in Halifax but I will say so Far this has been one of the best. The food is 10/10, the waitress was just amazing. I’ll recommend this restaurant 100%

    The server was polite prompt and he knew his whisky. Food was excellent, well proportioned and very flavourful. Table was spacious and the four of us never felt cramped. We’ll be going again very soon

    Service (Laura) was superb throughout our dinner. She brought us some complimentary lobster risotto given this was our last night in Nova Scotia. Lobster was over cooked (meat hard and had to be cut with a knife) and tenderloin was also overcooked. Overpaid for what we got.
