The Happ Inn
Friday and Saturday the Kitchen is open from 11:00AM to 11PM
Sundays the Kitchen is open from 11:00AM to 8:30PM
Good sandwiches, salads and flatbreads. Portions are large. The decor is comfortable.
Went to Happ Inn with a friend to celebrate our birthdays. The food was delicious, good wine selection and excellent service. Server brought out a cupcake with 2 candles and even sang “Happy Birthday “. Nice touch and very thoughtful!
Disappointing entree and the service was ridiculously slow!
Our server needed to follow through w our needs. She was asked 3 times for honey..
The service was off. The food was not brought out to the right person. Usually the places at a table are numbered and they know exactly whose food is ordered. They made many mistakes.
Today the service was very slow and the restaurant was not crowded. We actually had to flag down someone to get us a waiter. This was unusual, but I had company and was embarrassed that we couldn't find a waiter!
Food is decent . Close to home so easy . Menu limited and boring .
Consistent food and service.
Happ Inn is a great place to meet friends. This is my second time there and will go again!! Food is great, as is the selection. Service is superb! It has "old world" charm.
Great server. Food was delish and presented well.
The food ranged from good to just fair, the place was noisy and our server was brusque and apparently annoyed with us when we didn't order cocktails or dessert. She spilled water on the people at the next table and later started to sweep the floor all around our table, seemingly causing another table to get up and leave. The server was a very unpleasant distraction to our dining experience.
Good standard fare
I love Happ Inn for small or large groups. There is something for everyone on the menu. I always know that I will have a great meal, and usually left overs too. My dad wanted something that is not on the menu every night, and they were able to accommodate him. The fried chicken is fantastic, and so are the vegetarian choices. The bar area is also a perfect option if the restaurant is a long wait. The service has been slow at times, but the other night it was amazing. The location is great because it is right off of the highway.
The Happ Inn is our go to place. It’s fabulous for a Saturday night dinner or a weekday business lunch. The food is totally reliable and the presentation is pleasin. From time to time we experience a lapse in service which, typically, we attribute to you the restaurant. We have found the staff pleasant, helpful and engaging.
Service was very slow & server was not very attentive, to his credit (and not mgmt's) all his tables were sat at the same time. Kids meals are $10 which is much higher than average.
Great place for a tasty meal in the North Shore!!!
ONE OF OUR WEEKLY FAVORITES,GREAT SALADS,SOUP VARIETY ..VERY TASTEY..AND THE FRIED CHICKEN EXCEPTIONAL..GREAT SERVERS TOO..OH..CARROT CAKE ,TOO!!!
Bar needs help..drinks take too long to arrive and glasses are too small.
Food was delicious.
Could use more waitstaff! Service a bit slow.
So, we spent part of our evening at a table in the dining room for dinner and then moved to the bar for drinks. It was like two different establishments. First, the dining room. As always, the menu has something for everyone. Our group enjoyed both fish and chicken tacos and fish and chips. All were quite tasty. We also ordered beverages with dinner. Our server was quite attentive and happy to make sure the bar had the spirits we preferred. A big plus too for the large rock and good cherry in my Manhattan. Unfortunately, our experience later on in the bar was not as nice. Service was scattered. Asked for rye instead of bourbon in Manhattan and got bourbon. Expected large rock again and was given lots of little ice cubes. And a bright red maraschino cherry! SO unappealing. Server was able to replace rocks with a big one but, still. Such a lack of consistency in the same restaurant. Would be happy to return again for a daytime meal as kitchen and dining room service were great. Just won't be back for drinks.
Great place, one of my faves!
Good food, allways ok, the owner allways around checking that all is right.
One of my favorites
Great food, great drink, great service. We loved the food and beer.
Great work review.
Had a great dinner experience here!
Took a friend there to celebrate her birthday. My trio of soup, salad and slider was good (bun could have been fresher). Friend's salad was excellent. She was given a cupcake (free) to celebrate her birthday. It was worth what I paid for it (dry and tasteless)
The service was extremely slow. There was a lot of time in between getting our drinks and taking our food order. The cornbread was very crumbly, not up to Happ Inn standards Fried chicken was great. Slow refills on iced tea and water.
I told waiter my friends bday and no complimentary dessert was offered— also we walked into ur private bar to free up our table— we were told we Absolutely couldn’t sit there— we did not feel welcome in ur restaurant
We have been coming here for years and enjoying it as a family. However, the last three visits have been mediocre at best the food has been less flavorful and well prepared, and overall the service spotty.
We have a 7:45 reservation but had to wait 25 minutes
Well, I have always enjoyed their chopped cobb. This night it wasn't so great. Probably partly my fault. Trying to diet and I modified it somewhat. But mostly their fault. I have Celiac and told the waiter that it had to be Gluten Free and why. Sure enough it came with a big triangle shaped cracker stuck in the middle. That wasn't the worst problem. Our waiter, Mosis had the BO; not must a little case but huge and lingering. Bad enough that it made the food unappealing.
Also, the icing on the cake was that for some reason they had the heat on. It wasn't that cold outside [high 50's] and certainly not enough to warrant the heat to be turned on.
So.... will I go back again? Probably, because it's an easy meeting place for people coming from different directions who want casual. Otherwise I probably wouldn't.
Willow street salad was bad. Chicken dry and dates/figs fry too. Should have sent it back. My friends whitefish was tasteless.
never disapointed, Happ In always deliver, good everything
great campari cocktail
The food was ok, not great, and it was hard to carry on a conversation because of all the hussle and bussle. Service was better than the food. It was pricier than I expected. But others must differ because the place was really crowded
The waitress was very pleasant. The food was OK. BUT, Our group was 4 adults and 2 young children aged 3 and 1. We got the check and they included a mandatory 20 percent service charge. I was pretty surprised. We were not a party of 6 adults, and besides, 20 percent in a family type restaurant seems excessive. Just be aware before you decide to go there.
This restaurant has excelled for many years, and our recent experience there indicates that it continues to do so. The wait staff was outstanding (informed, friendly, good at reading the pace at which we wished to dine, and genuinely nice), as were the food and beverages. The seating was particularly comfortable (one of the booths), and we could conduct a conversation without being bombarded by noise from televisions or other distractions. Highly recommended.
Great food plus gluten free options.
Fantastic server, Sandra who is outstanding!!!
Kids love coming here.
This was my first time eating here and I am already looking forward to going back. I liked the menu selections - there was something for everyone, including my picky kids, my dieting friend, and two solid men. Everything was very flavorful, including my southwestern salad.
The service was terrible. I can understand service being slow, but not being ignored. The final issue was the waitress not being honest about the delay and menu. Carlos you need to review your staff.
We keep going here because the the kitchen is open later that most restaurants on the North Shore. The service is really outstanding. Everyone is so friendly. We LOVE the gazpacho. Last night we had the fried chicken (large serving) and the whitefish - delicious! Great pour from the bar! They have great spaces for large parties here, and a vibrant bar scene 👍
Had a great lunch on a Wednesday afternoon in one of the back rooms. The noise level was low as we were there later in the day. No rush on us, as we sat and talked for 2 hours, which was appreciated.
We have been eating here a lot lately. The service is exceptional. Everyone on the staff is very nice! We love having the gazpacho! Portions are great for the money. Nice pour from the bar. The banana cream pie is excellent!
