Great food! Great service! Great choice of wines! Love this place.
Tocco is a reliably delicious choice in Wicker Park. Amazing Italian pasta made from scratch, fresh and creative salads, and an affordable wine list. This place is phenomenal.
Our waiter was really good.
I am vegan and he asked the chef who also accomodated for us.
Thank you very much!
We visited Tocco for the second time this year and had another great evening of dinner with friends. The decor in modern/chic and very comfortable. All four of us had one of their specialty cocktails and each one was colorful and great tasting. The salads were plentiful enough to be shared and the soup was delicious. The 3 pasta dishes we ordered came hot and portions were reasonable. They tasted great! One person ordered the pizza which had thin crust and plenty of topping to satisfy. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable, but not intrusive. I'm looking forward to returning and hope to make it on a warm day when they have the large wall of windows open. Highly recommended.
Disappointed with pizza, came to us lukewarm. Sent back but never really came back hot enough
Food was exceptional. Service was great - loved that the owner was in the restaurant and talking to the customers. Will definitely be back!
When we arrived the owner commented negatively about the fact that we had increased the party size of our initial reservation and that he needed to turn the table over. The entrees did not arrive all together- there was a ten minute gap in between the food for 2 people and then the remaining six. Overall the food was excellent- pastas and pizza were among the entrees we had. We had to keep flagging them down for more water. When we ordered gelato for dessert it took 30 minutes to arrive. As much as the owner said he was going to rush us the service did not reflect that.
Our group of 6 arrived for our reservation at 5:45pm and were seated immediately. Our server greeted us but did not explain the menu or drink selections despite us being one of the only groups in the restaurant. We informed our waitress that we had an event to make by 7:45pm and ordered our food by 6pm. We waited patiently for our food to arrive, but started wondering where it was after about 45 minutes had passed. We politely asked our waitress and she informed us that it took a while because one of us ordered the lasagna, but our food would be right out. It would have been nice to have been informed of this when ordering our food, that way we could have chosen a different item. Our food finally arrived at our table at 7pm, an hour after we ordered. Upon arrival, most of our food was luke-warm at best. Although it tasted good, it was very unfortunate that it was not hot.
Additionally, our waitress did not pay much attention to our table overall. Our water glasses sat empty throughout most of our meal and our waitress only checked on us once after our food came. We also had to hunt our waitress down in order to get the check for the table.
Although the overall ambiance of the restaurant is nice, the dinner experience was not very enjoyable. Unfortunately, at one point the restaurant got a little loud, as most places can, and the woman who sat us (seemed like she may have been an owner) actually shooshed all of the diners! It was an unbelievably uncomfortable and awkward experience.
Overall, our experience was not what I expected and do not think I will be visiting this establishment again.
Food was delicious!
However: The smell of burning wood in the restaurant was so strong that we had to have a shower when we got home and put all our clothes in the wash. That sucked.
The appetizer special sounded great and it was tasty, but $28 for an appetizer is outrageous! Would not have ordered it if we knew the price, which was more than most of the entrees on the menu.
Great Italian food at a fair price. Always ask for the specials!
Great food and great service! What an exceptional evening!
Food was awesome and loved sitting outdoors on a gorgeous evening. Our waitress was friendly but not attentive. We tried ordering more drinks and waiting quite some time trying to get her attention or seeing her outdoors. We would have loved another drink. The bus boy was attentive and water was always full and table was cleared. Again food was awesome and will come back but hopefully get another waitress.
Love this place! Pizza and pasta were amazing, great service, and some live music!
Another terrific meal at Tocco. This place is genuine and authentic top to bottom. Bruno is such a gracious host and we always feel so welcome. The pizza of course is outstanding and creative, but had the chicken piccata for the first time and it was just as delicious and flavorful. Can’t go wrong at this gem in Wicker Park.
lemon parpadelle is so heavenly and so is the spinach/ricotta dumplings with black cream truffle
sauce...two favorites. salads were beautifully presented and delicious...especially the buratta.
My wife wanted something different for her birthday dinner. Tocco is on the very short list of places where a local Italian celebrity I happen to work for eats frequently. It's a beautiful space with modern, clean lines and high ceilings. Although we were right on time for our reservation and it appeared quite empty, the maî·tre d' took several minutes to have a table prepped. We were a bit put-off by that. Once seated, however, everyone was friendly, helpful, and efficient.
We started with the Burrata which I highly recommend. She had the Pappardelle alla norcina and our server pointed me towards the Spaghetti allo scoglio. The food was outstanding, simple yet flavorful, authentic, and even refreshing. The quantities aren't huge, in contrast from the many Americanized Italian restaurants. This is more proof of Tocco's authenticity. The prices were about on-point given the quantity and quality.
Our server helped sneak in a birthday candle to the tiramisu we ordered for desert. This was also excellent -- layers of sweet and savory flavors yet not too heavy. We had an excellent experience overall and plan to return soon.
Great atmosphere and delicious food! Perfect spot for date night or any more intimate get-together.
We had the grilled veggies, gnocchi di sorrente (sp?) and the pomegranate martini. I highly recommend all three!
We had not been there in a while. It still has great food and atmosphere! We will definitely come back soon!
A real winner! The pizza is wonderful, with high quality, fresh ingredients and a whole wheat crust with just the right amount of chew. We also enjoyed the pasta cacio e pepe. It was cooked al dente with a nice amount of kick. Our server was attentive and the patio is lovely. Would definitely recommend.
real best italian , from an italian , where you can get high quility foods and high quality care of preparation and taste
Service was attentive. We had pizza and pasta ( lasagna) both were delicious
Always completely delightful, delicious, wonderful atmosphere, and charming service. My favorite place in the neighborhood. The pizzas are elegant, the homemade pasta is divine, the arugula salad is perfection... everything is wonderful. NOT to be missed. And it was a gorgeous night, with a lovely breeze on the patio.
Everything was great. My only problem was that they don't look at the Open table reservation. We went for our 22nd wedding anniversary. We put it in our reservation, but nobody said anything to us.
This was my first visit to Tocco and we will definitely be back. The service is wonderful and everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. The pastas are AMAZING. Honestly, they were divine. The pappardelle was the most delicate pasta I've ever tasted and the portions were filling, but not too heavy. I very much recommend this restaurant!
Great food, good service. Excellent delicious pizza and pasta
Amazing PIZZA!!!! Great Cappuccino !!! Great Service
Without any doubts one of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago. Definitely one of the most authentic. Great food and atmosphere!!
Great food, great friendly service ! One of our favorite places!!!
Pizza is authentically Italian and quite delicious. Anchovies were perfect on the Neapolitan. We also ordered the cacio and pepe pasta and the fennel salad - they were ok but too heavy handed with the cheese. Caprese salad was spot on. Love the ambiance of big, wide windows that open up so you can get the breezy benefits of being outside but with the comfort of being inside. Will definitely go back.
I went for the first time with a group of 10 for my 50th birthday. The table set-up was perfect for a large group. They took great care of us and the food was delicious. We needed to leave for a theater performance and they were great with timing and service.
My all time favorite restaurant!! ❤️❤️❤️ The whole menu is delicious!!
Great food, good service. Loved it! Was a bit busy but we enjoyed our food...the grilled veggies could have been cooked longer
Worst service I’ve ever had in the 13 years living in Chicago. I took my visiting parents and immediate family to Tocco for dinner on Mother’s Day. 30 minutes after arriving the waitress finally took our order. One appetizer arrived correct and timely. The second wasn’t what we ordered, so it was taken away and given to another table with the explanation “we made the wrong appetizer for another table so we’re giving it to you for free”. Why not leave it at our table for free, the table waiting for our food? Our main course arrived 65 minutes after we placed our order. The first dish brought out was cold. We let our waitress know, she took it away, being told another one would be made, but the same dish was brought back, only slightly warmer, with the original dish still on the plates, completely cold. The second dish arrived warm, the third was also cold, the fourth was warm. After complaining the first cold dish was removed from the bill, I shared my dish with my parents and we left still hungry 120 minutes later. Deplorable!
Tocco has been our favorite Italian place for last few years and I would highly recommend it to everyone who likes real Italian food that is prepared with passion for fine cooking.
The pizza is fabulous, the pastas are sublime, and the antipasto is awesome.
Friendly service always.
Nice Italian wine selections.
Love this place!
Always outstanding food, fantastic ambiance and even more so when chicago weather collaborates. It was lovely to dine al fresco by the open window.
We just returned from a trip to Italy and were in the mood for Italian food. This was our first time there and the owner (who is from Italy) greeted us so warmly. The food was just as authentic as in Italy. Even the simplest dishes had incredible flavor. There were five women and we shared everything from the Charcuterie platter, roasted vegetables, salad, pasta, pizza and chicken. The owner came over towards the end of our meal with limoncello and to talk with us. It was the perfect place for our night out and we will definitely be back.
Great food and atmosphere. Have been there many times. Just had the lasagna ... best ever.
