Tower Oaks Lodge
I used to frequent the restaurant but with so many choices in Rockville I hadn't been in a while
We were seated on time but in the back room which has a bar. It was quite loud and difficult for one person in our party who wears a hearing aid. It took a good 15 minutes for the waiter to arrive - the restaurant wasn't full. So we ordered drinks and dinner My brisket was full of fat and Luke warm. So was the ribeye ordered
The food was fair, the service was poor. Again with all the choices in the area, I would not hurry back
Food is good and moderately priced, but the big draw is the rustic Adirondack ambiance.
Heretofore and also on May 18th, Tower Oaks Personnel have always have made accommodation for a colleague who uses a motorized scooter----and she does not transfer to a conventional chair.
Food was very good; the monthly special is my favorite of all fish. It was impeccably fresh; could have been perfect with maybe a minute less cook time. The waiter was efficient and pleasant and patient when one of our group was delayed.
The negative part was after we asked to be seated. I had asked for a table against a wall when I reserved the previous day, important since I'm hard of hearing and the restaurant is noisy. We were told there were no such tables--but then we passed one as we followed the waiter. I asked for it, and we were seated. A bit later he came back saying it had been reserved for others. We declined to move. I felt my claim was at least as good as the other person's.
Trout and brisket were outstanding. Bartender made a great Manhattan. Fresh strawberry shortcake excellent.
Lovely environment, good food , good service and friendly waiter!
I liked the relaxed feel of this place. It was like dining in the comfort of a friend's home. The atmosphere was pleasing, and the service was excellent. I tried trout for the first time and really enjoyed it. My date had a salad with chicken, and she really enjoyed that dish. I would definitely return to this restaurant for more delectable delights on the menu. Thanks for helping to make this such a memorable night for me on the night of my senior prom.
I said that I recommend the lodge for outdoor but there is no outdoor, but where we sat, if felt so open and airy in the woods that my entire family felt outdoors. We had one of the best birthdays for my wife on record. A wonderful time; a gorgeous place; good food and vibe.
I love the Great Room for lunch with outdoor view and hunting theme decorations. The service is always excellent, allowing us to take our time and yet moving quickly when our orders were in. My friend enjoyed the curried chicken sandwich, while I chose the monthly special Alaskan Halibut. Both were delightful. The Lodge never disappoints.
The Haddock was excellent. Everyone liked their martinis. Excellent waitress.
I am not a frequent diner at Tower Oaks, but dine there regularly. Have never had a bad experience. The food is consistently good, the servers are always friendly and personable but not obtrusive and the atmospher is relaxing.
The Lodge is our favorite local eatery. My husband is a seriously critical diner but has never voiced a complaint about the food. We know we'll always find both new meal choices to pique our appetites as well as old favorites, and the service is top notch. Always a pleasure!
We go often - the food is always good, the prices are reasonable, the service is exceptional, and if you like the upscale hunting "lodge" ambiance, you'll love Tower Oaks Lodge.
The overall experience was very nice. The food was predictably good.
The waiter, however, requires soon mentoring.
The waiter, a young man, was too quite in his demeanor and overall approach to guiding us through the ordering process. We had an elderly gentleman, my father, with us and the waiter never addressed him. As it turns out, my father is hard of hearing and never heard a word of the waiters questions or comments.
This is not a unique problem to this waiter or this Restraunt.
Some of your wait staff are quite excellent at projecting their voice and engaging each customer in turn.
A refinement in this area would improve my overall rating of this venue.
The Alaskan Halibut special is exceptional. Nina's service excellent as always !!!
Although I love this restaurant -- I find the menu is a little off. I found it hard to find more than two things on there that I liked. My whole family agreed. But we will come back here again and again because the food we had was great. So are the staff and also they serve the best margaritas in town!!!!
mediocre food however, was a little disappointed in the entrees
My teenaged daughter and I went here for Mother's Day dinner. It was busy, but with our reservation we were seated quickly. The negative is that we ended up with a two top table in the front bar area which was a bit busy and noisy with people watching sports. Our server seemed to be inexperienced and was not handling her tables very well. She kept apologizing . I was never asked if I would like another drink. And water refill was very slow. Our food was good though!! And since our server was overwhelmed we were not rushed which I liked.
Tower Oaks Lodge is a beautiful venue in a beautiful location. The "Lodge" ambience is thorough without being overdone -- no kitsch here. The tunnel of fairy lights you walk through to get to your table puts you in a festive mood, so it's a great place for Mother's Day and similar celebrations.
The food is very good but not superlative; nothing pretentious or daring here, just a dependable kitchen that turns out fresh, hearty meals every time. Portions are ample but not excessive and prices are very reasonable. Save room for dessert, because the house-made desserts are excellent.
Food is O.K., but the reason to go is the atmosphere. Not like anywhere else. And so close in.
Even on a very busy night they did a very good job meeting our expectations.
Well, it WAS a holiday (Mothers Day). But it was *exceptionally* noisy, even so, and colored our otherwise enjoyable early evening. Everything else was fine as we've come to expect after years of coming here. Guess we'll just have to schedule our reservation when it isn''t the peak hour.
The first thing served was a poor quality bread with whipped butter in a plastic container. This is not what I would expect in a quality restaurant.
The waiter and staff were excellent, will go again.
I would like to know what happen to my points earned. Had over 2000, do you delete them if they are not used during a certain time-frame. Please advise, because if this is the case will not participate any longer.
Our server got changed on us in the middle of service, I supposed this was due to shift change. Over all our server was pretty good. the atomosphere was nice as usual which is why I chose this restaurant. I was really surprised ny my dissapointment with the food. I have dined at this restaurant numerous times and loved everything. I had the ribeye steak which I ordered medium but it was burned. The crab soup was just as good as I remembered it and same with the calamari. Overall this was not a terrible dining service. I would recommend that if servers are going to switch in the middle of service they should let the guest know.
this is one of the best of the Clyde"s monthly specials that I have had so far. A halibut fillet served on bed of barley and mushrooms with an asparagas salad. Cooked perfectly. For desert we tried the rhubarb crumble tart that was also great. Excellent service and good wine at a moderate price.
It's our favorite restaurant which is why we selected it to celebrate Mother's Day. The food is always amazing as well as the drink selection. Highly recommend it!
Clyde's always delivers on the experience!
The food is good but nothing special however they changed their selection of salads recently. The salads used to be great and now they are mediocre to lousy. I have tried three different salads and they are sub par quality compared to other restaurants. I will come back only to frequent the bar which is a good place for groups to meet.
Very disappointed for the second time in 5 months. This has been our go-to place for many years for special occasions and quiet dinners, but it has become unreliable...the service, or rather the lack of good service is the greatest problem. Other issues are uninteresting desserts and lack of consistency with the food. I expressed discontent after our December visit, but no response from the restaurant...I guess that they just didn't care. It also didn't seem as crowded this year for Mother's Day so I must not be the only one feeling this way.
As usual the trout parm was delicious, the crab chowder was delicious and the service was excellent.
On a Saturday night it was crowded and very noisy. Once we were seated we couldn't hear each other. The food was fine and the service was good but if you want to have a conversation, go someowhere else.
My wife asked for her meal without the butter sause (or that it be put on the side). Although the server indicated this was no problem, the kitchen staff did not perform as requested. No employee stopped by the table after the food was served so that we could call it to their attention. Only after everyone had finished did a manager stop by who we advised of the situation.
The manager removed the item from our bill.
(Note: manager did stop by during the salad course, but no one stopped by after main course was served).
I would have prefered to get what was ordered and pay for it!
atmosphere is great. waitress was very good. kitchen was very slow. portions were too small. menu choices were not as appealing as usual.
We had our 17th anniversary dinner at Tower Oaks and had a wonderful time. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was very good, although we would have preferred the deck the dinning area was very nice. Highly recommend this restaurant.
This Clyde's Restaurant has a great ambience -- hunting lodge décor. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, as do all Clyde's menus, and service on the day we were there was excellent. We enjoyed the food and the surroundings. Noise level is moderate so you can carry on a conversation without having to shout.
Have been here before and food was wonderful- this time we had the haddock and ravioli and found it quite uninspiring. Nothing "wrong" - just not very good. Even the rhubarb tart was bland. We were very disappointed. Also, though we had a reservation, we were seated in a noisy bar area. (I did not ask to be moved- hoped the 20 somethings were going to be seated and noise alleviated- so tried not to make a fuss.) They stayed through the meal- though the more they drank, the quieter they became, thanks goodness.
One of the Clyde's Restaurant chain, it easily meets the high standards set by this Company. Added to that is the old tavern ambiance, which is unique these days.
The staff was most accommodating to our party, as we arrived in separate groups.
Food was excellent and not over-whe liming with portion sizes.
I brought visiting colleagues to Tower Oaks for our evening meal. We ate in the great room and admired the beautiful historic structure. Everyone was happy with their meal. Service was great because we weren't interupted by too frequent staff visits but the waiter was there evertime we needed something.
This a great place for groups with varied tastes.
The oysters are great!
