Tower Oaks Lodge
My friend and I met for lunch at Tower Oaks Lodge in Rockville, MD. The place is huge but we had reservations and were seated right away. The ambiance is attractive and the menu varied. We both ended up having two appetizers each and shared a dessert. I had an asparagus salad -- which was a nice change of pace from the standard house or Caesar selections -- and Bang Bang Shrimp, which was delicious and just the right amount. My friend ordered fried calamari and a side salad. The server recommended a lemonciello dessert, which was excellent. The service was quite good and patient -- since we were catching up and stayed to chat quite a while.
This restaurant is quite close to our home, so we go there a lot. The food is always good, but the noise level, especially on a Friday night, can be deafening -- so ask to be seated away from the bar.
No noise problem on a Sunday morning.
Atmosphere at the restaurant is great -- reminds one of a lodge in the West.
Food has been great at every meal we've had there.
We really had a wondful time and genjoyed the good quality food and excellent services for our Saturday night dinner (for two) at Tower Oak Lodge.
We took my mother here for her 96th birthday. She loved the food ( and she is picky) and the staff treated her like a celebrity. We were very satisfied.
I have been a loyal Tower Oaks Lodge (TOL) patron for many years and watched with sadness the decline of TOL. I last ate there on June 7, 2014. I had the salmon. The dish was no more than adequate, well below TOL's standards. In the past, the item was a a TOL signature dish. Same comment for my wife's dish. The desserts were a total failure. The tiramisu was hard, needed a knife to cut through the bottom, where there should have been some sponge cake. The creme brûlée lacked the characteristic taste. A signature dessert item, bread pudding, now tastes so differently (salted caramel?) as to be inedible. The same for another great item, the turkey burger, name is the same but the taste is far from the original. in one word,DISAPPOINTING.
We have dined at this restaurant on many occasions and it was on our list of favorites. However, after numerous changes on the front desk, we did not find it as welcoming a place to which to return. After probably a couple years we decided to try again, especially since the special of the month is salmon (a favorite of mine). We had a very pleasant dining experience. The server was excellent. The salmon was good but I have had better preparations and presentations. It was still an overall quite pleasant dining experience.
From the moment we walk in to the time we left we couldn't have been treated any better everyone was so congenial and wanting to bend over backwards for you. just a wonderful experience!! The food was excellent!! Can't wait to go back!!
Lunch and brunch are my favorites at Tower Oaks. Food is good, atmosphere is relaxing and prices are reasonable.
Tower Oaks does not disappoint the guest! The service is excellent from start to finish. Food is always varied and very good.
One of my favorite places to dine.
They remembered to serve a special dessert that pleased my life partner
with whom I was celebrating our 54th.
There's only one steak on the menu, but they do a great job on it, even making it rare enough for my birthday girl (and med. rare for me) No appetizers--saved room for dessert (an adult milkshake for my lady, something chocolate for me) which was delicious. Not too quiet, but enough that we could talk normally--a pleasant ambiance.
The food was above average and the service was good and very friendly. The room decor was very nice but the noise was very high.
My wife and I dined at Tower Oaks for a Sunday early evening dinner. Service was exellent. The atmosphere was appealing. John, our waiter, was very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. He knew the menu, made some very good recommendations; and throughout our dining experience, he proved to be very attentive. Cost was moderate and the meals were well presented and taste was equally appealing. Having dined there, it is difficult to say which "Clyde's" is better than another. I will say it was easier to get there ( right of I-270S) and parking was not a problem. In that regard, I would certainly dine there again rather than going to one of the other Clydes in DC where parking is a challenge and at cost. Five stars for this restaurant!
The menu for brunch was extensive. All the options sounded delicious. The selections we have made were very good and nicely presented. Our server was new and it was his first day apparently. I would have expected th restaurant to introduce new servers to work by having them shadow a good server for a while however it seemed that this person was found the job with no or very little help/instruction.
Great ambiance. It was our first visit . Only issue was that on a beautiful day they sat us in darkest room while other rooms were light filled. Was not crowded and I would have preferred if they asked about seating.
It's so nice to be in an elegant, low voltage restaurant. The restaurant was gorgeous. Be careful of the asparagus salad, it really is just a large, cold side dish and not what you think of a salad at all. We're keeping this restaurant on our list to return.
We are always pleased with the food and service at Clyde's. There is something on the menu for everyone. The restaurant can be noisy. In the evenings it can be crowded, especially on Friday and Saturday, reservations are a good idea and parking can be tight.
We always enjoy our experience here. The food is usually as advertised and the service is good. The restaurant is a treat for new customers and out of town guests.
menu variety meets most people's wants, reasonable price, good service, they understand when folks gather there they are there to spend time with friends in a nice environment. they respect that you are there to talk as much as you are there to eat.
Tower Oaks is a great place to meet with friends, share a glass of wine, have some very good food and enjoy the atmosphere - which if fun. The Salmon Gravlax appetizer was excellent, the fried artichoke needed flavor but was OK. The restaurant is a good standby and has options for eating which will please every appetite.
The baked haddock was as good as usual. My friend had the crabcake, which also was excellent.
Chicken salad croissant. Bring outback on the menu!!!
I have been to this restaurant many many times, but this visit was not that great, they have added a couple of Indian dishes, but they do not
qualify to make them. Both my wife and her sister were not happy with these dishes. even the dish I had did not taste the same, may be they have changed the cook. It is a nice place to go, but I will leave it at that.
Tower Oaks Lodge is about a 5 minute drive from our house, and my husband and I wonder how it took us so long to discover what a gem it is! I had dined there a few times before but I was generally so lost in conversation that I did not pay close attention to the dining experience itself. This was my husband's first time there. I had the house salad as an appetizer. The lettuce was so fresh and crisp, and the other vegetables so delicious, that I was halfway into the salad before I realized that I had not used the dressing that I had requested be put on the side. My main course was haddock, and it was done to perfection. For dessert we split a yummy chocolate mousse. The service was excellent - the waiter attentive without hovering.
Gabby our server was outstanding in every way! The menu is unreal...so much variety and so unusual! The food was spectacular! Salmon, mahi mahi.....and the desserts....wow! Fantastic !
We love this place. This restaurant is gorgeous and service is the best in the area. Lots of food and beverage options, though we'd appreciate a few more new items in the menu rotation from time to time. That said, our favorites are delicious and portions are just right.
Nice place and good food for a brunch or a special occasion, especially focused on or with kids.
We were there for son's last night in town before moving away and the host accommodated our desire to be seated near the bar to watch his favorite sports team. Not only did he find us a nearby table, but he even made sure the right game was put on the nearby TVs so our son could watch the Orioles game. Our server also was very prompt and friendly. This remains our go to place for family occasions. Thanks!
This place great food at a reasonable price. Always clean, always excellent wait staff, and always outstanding food. Very reliable.
We come here all the time. Great recommendation by our waiter. Food was very good. Service was good and would have been better if our waiter was a little more attentive.
Very friendly and prompt service. Not hurried out. Good strawberry shortcake.
I have not been to the Tower Oaks Lodge in a long time and I had forgotten how much I like the ambiance of the restaurant. The food is fine but it's the setting of the restaurant in a kind of wooded area and the interior design, much like a hunting lodge, that set it apart. I plan to return often because I like that "change of pace" when I have lunch on a busy day.
I usually go here for brunch or lunch and I always have a good time. Enjoying the food from excellent Reubens, Ceasar salad with anchovies to a good vegetarian "burger". Love the ambiance of the great room.
It seems like the quality of the food has gone downhill at Clyde's Tower Oaks. The softshell crabs weren't fully cooked, the potatoes in the brick chicken were practically raw. Although the service was pleasant, neither of the four of us had a satisfying meal. I will think twice about taking out-of-town guests there in the future.
Hands down our favorite restaurant in Montgomery County for all the years we lived there. We have just moved to Florida, but are going back for a visit in August and we will be making a dinner reservation at Tower Oaks!!!!
excellent dining for brunch and lunch! We have never been disappointed here,
Food and service is good, but it was hard to have a conversation at the tables in the middle of the room. We've had a booth before and it seemed much easier to visit.
A nice local restaurant. Good food, with a recurring "monthly special" that is usually a good choice.
This is a 'Clyde's' restaurant. It's huge and has many dining rooms. The theme is western lodge like and they do a good job.
We went here for the first time for dinner. The atmosphere was great, and the facility very nice. Our service was outstanding, with our waiter being attentive, but not hovering. He seemed to be right there just when you needed him. The booth was a little small but the seat comfortable. The food was very good, and the deserts wonderful. The menu is great with a nice variety, but not so many items that it takes forever just to see what all they have, and it all was priced very reasonably. We will definitely be back.
