We first dined at Tulio’s when we first married in ‘94; we were very happy that Tulio’s was still providing service. Last night we enjoyed: Arugula Salad, bread service, Brasato di Agnello*, Squid Ink Tonnarelli*, Tulio Old Fashioned, Agogado. Our waiter was very personable and professional, the presentation was plated well; he also ensured that our food was brought to us with ample time for us to catch the performance after dinner.

Wife and I were seated in a curved booth with a half-full restaurant. Lights over the booth were off while remaining restaurant was moderately lit and the waiter told us we could use flashlights on our phones. Ordered cocktails which were average at best followed by sweet potato gnocchi and steelhead carpaccio. Both were unremarkable. Waiter suggested squid ink pasta with clams was his favorite pasta dish. The clams were heavily breaded, greasy and too small to be distinguished in the dark. Removed the shells and what remained was one of the worst dishes I’ve had in a couple of years. Gave up after a couple of bites. Wife ordered a butternut squash dish which was very dried out on the surface. She ate less than half of her meal. The waiter failed to acknowledge that clearly the meals were not appreciated. I love to cook, and we have dined out extensively, but the positive reviews of this restaurant may need to be reconsidered as the prices were not reflective of the quality observed. We had an amazing chef tour of Pike Place Market at lunch and had high hopes for Tulio. We don’t leave negative reviews but this experience inspired a response.

After just returning from a month in Italy I am surprised to say the food at Tulios was significantly better than most of the meals I had while in Italy. Certainly in the top 3 and likely the top. Still can’t believe it!

Service was terrible -- took forever to take our order, wasn't attentive to refilling water glasses, or checking on us, and waited at least 30 minutes to bring our food out (never a good sign) and when it did come out, it was room temperature. Food was ok, not great and not worth the price. Restaurant was not very busy so not sure why the delay. Waiter still didn't check on us. Will not being going back.

The menu has limited choices, but everything we ordered was delicious. We had the bread service, Caesar salad and the pasta with spicey Italian sausage. Our server was friendly and professional. The noise level was a bit loud, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Tulio is a Seattle treasure, especially if you want good Northern Italian food served with care in a small, quiet, softly and warmly lit, wood-paneled room.

Always a great place for a friendly and welcoming dinner; which is why we often go here. Food is delicious, service is generally great, and prices are not stratospheric. Comfortable food, made with care, in a comfortable place. Likely why they have stood the test of time over the years.
