Located in the Walkley area of Sheffield, Vito’s is a popular Italian restaurant at which booking is essential at any time of the week. This restaurant is pleasingly traditional, from the claret upholstery of the furnishings to the vines draped through the beams overhead, all creating a cosy feel helped along of course by Vito’s trademark good service. That old Italian charm is of course just as prevalent on the menu, overseen by owner Vito Ciaraolo and his head chef – and sister – Lucia. The Vito’s menu is all about authenticity, the wide selection including a whole host of favourite Italian dishes, made with a combination of chef’s skill and adventure and home-style heart, all served in large portions. Wine expert Vito has selected a good list of Italian grapes to be served alongside his food, both well-known labels and smaller, interesting picks for those keen on a little oeno-adventure.

We went for a birthday meal- the service was prompt no issues but the starter lamb dish was really awful- I’m always concerned when everything is covered in thick balsamic dressing - the lamb was on skewers and was tough with absolutely nothing to flavour it- the bread was nice enough that came with it but tasted like bread from a bread maker not hand made - we ordered the poussin dish for main meal for my husband, and as I was in an Italian I went for the lasagna- well the poussin was a little tough but the sauce and vegetables it came with were amazing - but the lasagna was literally a block of cooked pasta sheets with a tomato baked topping- I kid you not, there was no flavour other than bland cooked pasta sheets, it was inedible so I left it apart from that one taste- when the waiter came I explained to her that the lasagna was the worst I’ve ever sampled she tried to tell me that is an authentic lasagna- there was no sauce in the pasta and three tiny flat lumps of meat about the size of a 10p - now I’ve eaten lasagna in Italy and in excellent Italian restaurants so I know what it’s supposed to taste like - anyway they didn’t charge for the lamb starter and to be honest I just wanted to get out of there - the restaurant is beautiful but the food is not and actually gaslighting patrons about a dish as basic as a lasagna seems like an experience of dining in happy to live without - this isn’t hyperbole the lasagna was the worst I’ve ever eaten what a shame for such a lovely place - I think Gordon Ramsey needs to have a word with the ‘chef’!

Found this gem of a restaurant whilst working in Sheffield. Fantastic authentic food, and great service. Vito came and sat with us at the end of the meal and was genuinely interested in our views. Will definetly be going back.

This is a very pleasant smallish restaurant. We were greeted at the door and shown straight to our table. The menu has a good choice of dishes, including vegetarian, and there was also a specials board. We all enjoyed our dishes. However we were disappointed that we each just got a standard bowl of vegetables (of which at least half was roast potatoes) - I would have liked the veg / side dishes to have been chosen by the chef to compliment the main course. The food was well cooked and presented; it was pleasant, but for me there wasn't a "wow factor". Pricing of food was very reasonable; wines however (especially the reds) were pretty expensive. Overall a very pleasant dining experience, and I can happily recommend it

Welcomed into the restaurant on arrival and seated straight away. Given plenty of time to read through the menu before ordering. Food cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic, great wine and the Canolli desserts were to die for! Overall a brilliant meal and experience.

The food was great and prepared really well, our waitress seemed to be new but did try her best which we were grateful for. There was another gentleman who made every pence of the 20% tip.
