Beautiful restaurant. Service friendly and professional. Food fantastic , if a little pricey , but I would say worth it. A few more choices of cider / ale would be nice.

One of my favourite places. The paintings, open fire and attentive staff make it a true pleasure and treat, even on a working day

Took my dad here for his birthday on Saturday, there were four in our party. The starters and main course were delicious. We had the salt and pepper squid, mussels with some bacon and cider sauce, boubillaise; chicken confit cassoulet, pumpkin and sage tortellini, smoked haddock, and ham and eggs. Only small criticism is the tortellini was a bit dry and would have benefited from a sauce of some kind, but it was really tasty. Unfortunately, once our main courses had been served, service deteriorated and became quite slow., leaving us with dirty plates for a prolonged period. Eventually we were able to order desserts and three of us had the hollygog pudding. It was slow arriving and when it did, the custard (orange and bay) was cold, and the pudding was burnt and had the texture of something warmed up in the microwave, and for slightly too long, so it was rubbery rather than spongey. I understand they were having issues with power cuts in the kitchen, which might have accounted for the slower service, but the dessert was really disappointing. Car parking is a bit of an issue because there's a recreation ground next to the pub, so it's busy and there's not really anywhere nearby to park instead. However, all that said, overall this was a really nice experience and I would return. Based on the quality of the starters and main courses, I would recommend.

This is our local ‘go to’ place when we want something special and a bit of a treat. It’s a great restaurant that champions local produce and supports community events. The food is innovative, tasty and excellent value for money overall. My steak was perfectly cooked and my wife’s pollock fillet was superb. The crab rarebit starter was also a standout choice. As ever the service was super friendly and on the money throughout.

Very tasty food and excellent service. Lily our waitress was very professional and even when we asked ‘tongue in cheek’ questions about ‘wild farmed’ sourdough she took it well and actually went and asked the kitchen do that she could actually give us the correct information. Nice touch with the birthday chocolate brownies too!
