Best Contemporary European Restaurants in Kensington, Calgary / Southern Alberta

Afternoon tea is a great experience at Alforno. This was our second time trying it and both times were amazing! We had Liza as our server both times and she is super friendly and knowledgeable. She goes above and beyond to ensure your experience is a good one. From the pastries to the macarons to the savoury pastries, everything on the tower is delicious and very generously arranged. The scones are my favourite with their clotted cream as well as seasonal jam. I always have to ask for extra! Would 10/10 recommend!

This was my first time at IBU and it was outstanding. The food was amazing, in particular, the katsu wedge salad and the tomato kimchi salad. We also had the burnt ends , I wish there were a few more pieces of pork belly in the dish, that would be my only criticism. The dish was very flavourful. Ended with the mini donuts (very good) and the IBU marshmallow (fabulous). Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes.

I'm extremely picky about restaurants, but Bar Chouette is well worth the money. The food was incredible, the cocktails were well balanced and made, and even dessert (normally an afterthought) was fantastic. I can't wait to go back again.

It was my first time visiting Pimlico. It is noted to be inspired by a London bar but I don’t get that vibe at all. There were many cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks options that looked good. I had a house smoked old fashioned and it was really great. I also tried the signature cocktail and it was super fresh. I didn’t order food but I saw some go out to other tables and it looked really good. Their menu had some London-inspired foods but it’s a bit all over the place, not honing in on true London eats. They have great music … I went for the amateur DJ night and it was super good. I have no complaints but I would like to see them lay into the London vibe more aesthetically and from a cuisine perspective (tighten up the menu) … Calgary needs this and Pimlico is really close to making a perfect London getaway in YYC! I will be back to try more!

The Easter Brunch at Yellow Door Bistro was outstanding. The buffet selection was very extensive. The stations were constantly refilled so there were no disappointments accessing the different offerings. The quality of the food was excellent. Our server was friendly and efficient. Ambient noise was not too loud considering there were quite a few diners. We had a very enjoyable and filling brunch. The cost was a bit spendy but acceptable for this special occasion. We will likely return to sample the menu for dinner at a future date.
