THE WOODSMAN IS A TRULY BRITISH RESTAURANTWe use the best British ingredients, all sourced as sustainably as possible. We love using Wild food, and harvest much of it ourselves. All the meat on our menus is “nose to tail” so the menu is ever changing, and we waste nothing. We even employ our own head ranger to keep the deer herds on the land we manage under control, and have our own deer larder in the Cotswolds where this amazing product is processed. Our fish comes from day boats in Cornwall. We work with the seasons, ensuring the very best truly local veg is with us the day after its picked. Our food is cooked over wood from local plantations, and charcoal coppiced less than 20 miles away.We know the story of everything on the menu. Our lovely staff are extremely well informed, so, do ask questions on anything you’re not sure of.We hope you love this restaurant as much as we do and keep coming back.

Smiths was born in the heart of the pandemic, founded by brothers Theo and Sebastian with one goal in mind: to bring bold, unforgettable flavour to the Cotswolds. Nestled in the postcard-perfect village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Affectionately known as the Venice of the Cotswolds—we’ve carved out a name for ourselves with gourmet burgers that pack a punch.2025 marked a major milestone as we proudly took 3rd place at the National Burger Awards—a nod to the passion, graft, and flavour-forward thinking we put into every bite. Our intimate 30-seat restaurant offers a stripped-back, honest dining experience, where quality is king. We’ve partnered with award-winning butchers Aubrey Allen to source dry-aged beef with just the right fat ratio. Combined with our punchy flavour pairings, every burger delivers serious impact. The buns? Handmade fresh each morning by Marks Cotswold Bakery, using locally milled Cotswold flour from regional farmers. Every element tells a story—and it starts here.

Located just a few miles from Stratford-upon-Avon, it offers the perfect country retreat and is an ideal base from which to explore Shakespeare’s haunts as well as the rolling hills and river valleys of the Cotswolds.Steeped in history, the building once housed the local blacksmith and in the 18th Century became a popular Coaching Inn. It remains Armscote’s only pub and, saved and sensitively refurbished in 2013 by the family behind Baylis & Harding, it retains many distinctive character features. Beautiful exposed beams, flagstone floors and magnificent fireplaces give that rustic feel with clever and contemporary touches, lending this remarkable building a luxurious yet comfortable atmosphere, which can’t fail to charm. We welcome children and four-legged friends and our pub garden is ideal for families to enjoy leisurely lunches, drinks or snacks whilst the beautifully landscaped courtyard garden offers a sophisticated area to drink or dine.
