Best Family Style Restaurants in North Portland

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food was all excellent this time even the dessert which I seldom eat. I love the fact that they employ a large number of runners to expedite the food delivery. One doesn't have to wait for anything.

Our meal at Tartuca was exceptional from start to finish. We began with the farinata—featuring a tofu-like "pancake" made with yardlong beans - paired with turnips, cherry tomatoes, and micro greens. It was unique and tasty. We ordered the tomato risotto with fried capers, which did not disappoint. We also enjoyed the gnudi, a perfect fall dish featuring savory roasted chicken, fennel, and delicata squash. The sauce was incredible, and we were glad we ordered the focaccia, which is a star on its own. To round out the night, our waiter suggested his favorite Amaro, Averna, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Between the cozy atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food—including great GF and vegetarian options—we highly recommend this spot.

Menu is limited but everything is high quality. The pizza crust has a nice crispy crust and nice chew. Composed salads are substantial and dressings are lovely. The chocolate cake was a large piece we easily shared between 5 of us! The frosting was silky and delectable. Our waitress could not have been more informative, welcoming, and accommodating

This place was great. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. They gave us a wrong cocktail and the waiter didn’t charge for it and gave us what we ordered. The desert cake was not my favorite. I would highly recommend.

We absolutely loved this restaurant. My daughter has Celiac and needs absolute gluten free and the chef and team made sure no contact or cross contamination and always explained the food when they brought it out. We had a large party of 9 and the staff was very attentive to the entire group. 10/10 recommend!!
