Best Restaurants for Birthdays in Middlebury, Vermont

Nice atmosphere in an old train station with vintage tableware and decor. Food was very good with large portions. Fun cocktails are available also. We have been several times and it never disappoints.

Beautiful surroundings and the interior is very nice, several separate rooms. We were graciously greeted upon arriving, coat check. We had reservations thru Open Table, were taken right to our table for two. I had a “Matcha Silk”, which was not bad, but wouldn’t order again. Beet Carpaccio was very good, Marie’s Carrot salad was good, but my opinion was that the carrots should have all been shaved thiner or blanched to make them less crunchy. The Halibut was fantastic and my pork chop was tender and tasty! Cheesecake good also, my wife of course talked up the table next to us, they were very nice. Service very good. Definitely recommend.

Haystack is located next to the hotel lobby, but don’t let that deter you. My brother and I went over a long weekend expecting it to be packed as a hockey team was getting checked in. Service was quick and attentive. I had a New York sour which was delicious. My brother and I shared the mushroom sandwich melt and the mushroom pasta. Both were out of this world and at the end of the weekend the pasta dish was at the top of our list! A point off for ambience, but give it a go.
