⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Without a doubt, one of the best nights of my life! Gables Restaurant absolutely exceeded every expectation, and a huge part of that was down to Theo, the owner. What an absolute legend! His hospitality was second to none. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He sorted us out with a fantastic table, made everything happen effortlessly and genuinely made us feel like VIPs. The atmosphere was incredible, the service was outstanding, and the whole experience was something I'll never forget. It's rare to come across an owner who takes such genuine pride in making sure his guests have an unforgettable evening. A warm and comfy restaurant, we find the staff attentive without being annoying. I like their open kitchen where you can see your food being cooked. Everything cooked from scratch, and if you want something cooked a certain way or want to swop out side for something else, they are happy to do it. I had medium rare rib eye steak - which was cooked perfectly and I swopped out the roast potatoes and veg for thin chips and a dressed salad. Hubby had steak, peppercorn sauce, roast potatoes and veg (perfectly cooked green beans and carrots) and our son had the Calzone which he really enjoyed - it was the size of a big plate with some dipping sauce. Nonna's is the perfect restaurant for us, its 10 mins drive from our home, you can always park either in the street or nearby Sainsbury's, service is quick and the food has always been excellent. I cook from scratch the other 6 days a week (and work full time) so one meal a week at Nonna's is a real treat. Also no service charge so you tip what you feel is good for you.

Dalston Jazz Bar is a fantastic find. The night we went the Jazz Quartet was playing a range of standards and were really professional and high quality. The food was a revelation - 5 course fish menu at a set price and a range of delicious desserts. Each course was a delight, really fresh produce and beautifully prepared and cooked. The service was friendly and professional and the overall ambience was great. For a meal of this quality and quantity £40 pp was fantastic value. Where I live (on the Isle of Skye) a meal like this would cost a minimum of £100pp. I unhesitatingly recommend a visit to this excellent establishment.
