The Beacon is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. We are heartbroken to share that during an ice storm in January 2026, Bistro Roca suffered a fire, and our historic building was lost. While the loss is devastating, we are deeply thankful for the outpouring of kindness, support, and love from near and far.At this time, Bistro Roca is temporarily merged with our sister restaurant Hellbender Bed & Beverage, lcoated at 239 Sunset in the heart of downtown Blowing Rock. Our farmers define our menu. The local Appalachian produce changes with the season and so does our menu. The menu will change week to week or day to day depending on climate and seasonal growth length. From ramps and morels to soft shell crab and local beef, we strive to provide the absolute freshest in ingredients. Artisanal Restaurant is open seasonally from May-October end. Contemporary American Fine Dining in a rustic yet elegant environment. Innovative and progressive thinking in a farm to table approach, only working with the highest quality ingredients. This warm environment offers the best food and wine with excellent service. Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence. Private dining room adjacent to the wine cellar available is for events. The only available menu is a pre-fix style, with 5-6 choices per course, $110/ guest plus a service fee. We do not offer a kids menu however kids prepared to order off our pre-fix menu are welcome. Our Dress Code is Business Casual. Collared shirts are required, jackets are preferred but not required for men. No shorts, distressed jeans, hoodies, hats, or sandals/flip flops.     Went for our 30th wedding anniversary this year. As always the food and service were excellent. It was where we had our wedding dinner 30 years ago. We've kinda made it an annual thing for the past 5 years or so now to celebrate with no regrets. We were there on Tuesday evening, May 12th and it was most pleasant, not crowded and very easy to converse with each other. We really enjoyed the food and our time there.

    Great experience at Basil’s! We were sat promptly when arriving for our reservation. Food was wonderful. Everything was hot and fresh. Our waitress was very attentive and timely. The atmosphere was perfect for our group of 7.
