The Texas Club began as a 1960s residence before actor Dale Robertson (Tales of Wells Fargo) bought it in the early 1970s. He named it "The Texas Club" as a private hangout for his horse-racing friends, charging a $1 membership fee.In 1974, local Wayne Wood purchased the site, retaining the name and establishing it as a public steakhouse. This era created legends, including stories of marathon, high-stakes private poker games—one rumored to have a $25,000 pot and a gun-toting participant protecting her interest!After changing hands, Linda Kelso bought the business in 1994, transforming it into the beloved fine dining spot Ruidoso knows today. Casa has a rich history of serving quality food in our comfy hacienda. From our famous green chile strips and margaritas to our traditional enchiladas and sizzling fajitas, we serve you with a friendly face and at-home feel. That may be in part because Casa actually started out as a private residence, built in the 1950s, one of the first homes constructed on Mechem Drive. The property was sold and converted into a restaurant in 1983 and over the years it has been added on to and transformed into its current layout.
