Surrounded by stunning foliage and Georgian architecture, this spot is celebrated for serving some of the best pizza in Dublin. The menu features toppings ranging from spicy ‘nduja to caramelised onions and house-made roast ham. Little Pyg has been recognised in the MICHELIN Guide for its exceptional quality. We had a great time, service was very good, we had to exchange something and it was handled very well by the staff. Will be coming again, thank you!

South City Centre

Aperitivo Cicchetti brings the authentic flavours of Italy to Nassau Street in the form of “cicchetti”—traditional Venetian small plates. The concept is designed for sharing, allowing diners to sample a variety of dishes rather than committing to just one. The menu rotates frequently to reflect the best seasonal produce, but you can expect classics like panzerotti (mini calzones), spicy Calabrian sausage, and creamy taleggio cheese. The interior is intimate and retro, evoking the vibe of a 1950s Italian swing joint, making it perfect for a cosy date. The cocktail list is equally impressive; start with an Amaretto Sour or a Negroni before finishing with a rich Espresso Martini. With limited seating, booking is highly recommended.

Temple Bar

On Crow Street in the heart of Temple Bar, Rosa Madre has built its reputation on a clear principle: exceptional fresh seafood, sourced every morning from trusted Irish suppliers, prepared in the coastal Italian tradition. Homemade pasta is a signature — from gnocchetti with crab and Amalfi lemon zest and spaghettoni with local Irish clams to ravioli al tartufo with parmesan sauce — while roasted Castletownbere scallops, grilled octopus, and Irish blue lobster offer the kitchen’s full coastal range to those willing to go further. The wine list ranks among Ireland’s finest, recognised with a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and drawing on some of Italy’s most distinguished labels. The room is warm, convivial, and reliably full — precisely the atmosphere that makes an Italian dinner feel right. For the best Italian restaurant in Dublin, Rosa Madre is a must-book.

Grand Canal Dock (D2)

Osteria Lucio was established by two MICHELIN chefs who have been friends for years— Chef Ross Lewis (of Chapter One fame) and Chef Luciano Tona. Located under the railway arches at Grand Canal Dock, the restaurant combines Irish conviviality with authentic Italian spirit. The setting is warm and rustic, a perfect cocoon for enjoying simple, flavour-focused cooking. The menu relies on the very best artisan produce, bridging the gap between Irish ingredients and Italian recipes. For dinner, start with the Irish wagyu beef carpaccio or the cured scallop with blood orange. The handmade pasta is a highlight, particularly the paccheri with duck ragu. It is a top choice for those seeking a relaxed yet high-quality dining experience away from the city centre bustle.

Amazing experience as always! The four of us really enjoyed our dinner, and we were all very happy with our choices. The pasta is beautifully prepared, and the fig salad was out of this world. I honestly could eat it every day! And a special mention to the tiramisu: I highly recommend it! It's an absolute must and an essential part of the experience. Don't leave without trying it! I also want to highlight the incredible service. I don't think I've ever visited this restaurant without being greeted by someone with a smile or someone willing to help. The whole team is genuinely lovely, welcoming and attentive. It really makes the experience even more special. Thank you for always making us feel so welcome!

Located in the heart of Temple Bar, La Caverna offers a unique dining experience set across three floors, including a stunning 18th-century barrel-vaulted wine cellar. This atmospheric setting makes it one of the most romantic spots for Italian fine dining in Dublin. The menu is extensive, catering to all tastes with a range of fresh pasta, premium steaks, and seafood. Standout dishes include the tagliatelle al filetto with strips of fillet beef and the classic pollo cacciatore. La Caverna is also notable for its dedicated vegan menu, ensuring everyone in the group is well catered for. The warm, dimly lit cellar is perfect for an intimate evening with a bottle of red from their impressive wine list.

GiGi is a family-run dining experience in Ranelagh designed to emulate the owners’ home in Vigevano, Italy. The dining room is personal and charming, decorated with family art and shelving crafted from a single beech tree. The food is equally authentic, offering a true taste of modern Italy. The focal point is the Tagliere antipasti board, featuring premium cured meats and cheeses sliced to order. For mains, the kitchen excels at fresh pasta; try the linguine with lobster or the slow-cooked beef and pork ragu that melts in the mouth. To finish, the creamy tiramisu—made with coffee imported from a family-run roaster—is essential. It is an intimate spot that feels like dining in a friend’s home.

Stoneybatter

For a truly authentic Calabrian experience, Grano Restaurant in Stoneybatter is a must-visit. This compact and bustling spot has earned a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand for its commitment to traditional, handmade pasta and organic ingredients. Run by Roberto Mungo, the restaurant prides itself on roots and traditions, often sourcing ingredients directly from small producers in Italy. The menu is concise and changes regularly, but you can expect dishes like fileja (a traditional Calabrian pasta) with rich tomato sauce and ‘nduja, or fresh seafood specials. Due to its popularity and small size, booking well in advance is essential. It is widely considered one of the best places for fresh pasta in Dublin.
