Our waitress was fantastic, and we sat right by the front window in the corner.

We chose to head to Caruso’s Grocery to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Our server Marcelle really made the evening feel special and celebratory! She also had great insights on the menu and helped us pick fantastic dishes. The appetizer meatballs were definitely a favorite at the table and the Spicy Neapolitan Ragu and Shrimp Carbonara will definitely keep us coming back! The complimentary prosecco and dessert was the cherry on top. Great atmosphere, great food and great drinks all around!

La Tomate has been a family-owned fixture of the Dupont Circle dining scene since 1987, offering a charming and lively bistro experience that overlooks the neighborhood’s energetic streets. The triangular building provides scenic views through expansive windows, while the outdoor sidewalk cafe is one of the most coveted spots for people-watching during the warmer months. The menu features a balanced mix of traditional antipasti, fresh salads, and classic pastas with the fettuccine la tomate and the veal scallopini being long-standing favorites. The experience is defined by a commitment to the slow-food movement, where the sourcing of fresh produce and a relaxed, unhurried service style allow guests to truly savor the Mediterranean lifestyle.

We come to DC once a year, and our visit isn't complete without a dinner at La Tomate. Excellent service, wonderful food, and a good wine list. Lamb chops were delicious, bronzino special was outstanding, squash ravioli was great, and the beet carpaccio can't be better. We had an excellent Gavi di Gavi that was also a special listing. Looking forward to next year.
