The experience here was one of the worst I’ve had at a restaurant. The drinks we ordered could only be described as watered down and flavorless. I genuinely think they watered down the cocktails. We ordered the charcuterie board and when the waitress brought it she said they “had no cheese” so it was a tray of random meats, some toast points, canned walnuts, and some random unripe strawberries. None of the other things advertised were there. We ultimately sent it back. My friend ordered the gnocchi which came swimming in a pool of grey soup-like sauce. There was so much liquid she had to fish for the gnocchi, which had expanded 3x its size due to sitting in so much liquid. I ordered the pappardelle which came with ground beef and flavorless ragu sauce from a can. It was so bland I had to ask for salt and pepper. I cannot believe we paid for this meal. The wait staff was kind and attentive, but the food was some of the worst I’ve had in years.

I had a reservation for an anniversary. We were seated 45 min after our reservation. We were sat right by the hostess stand. I noted it was our anniversary on the reservation and nothing was said. I ordered a beer and the waiter charged me for the biggest one without asking. They also kept our ID’s u til the end of the meal. I had high hopes after reading reviews.

Love love love this place! It’s my third time coming since I found it two weeks ago. The food is amazing especially the breakfast Benedict and the cocktails are the best I’ve found in Utah! Hallelujah! The only thing I could complain about is the service. It’s like you’ll see a waiter about 10 minutes after being seated and then to you’ll get your drink, food, then it’s like pulling teeth to get them again! Normal high end restaurants they will come make sure you don’t want another beverage and check to see if you like the food. But obviously that can be fixed the food is 10/10 and so is the cocktails!

We used to love going to The Block - the food was consistently good. In the last year or so the food has dramatically gotten worse. It looks beautiful, but is not well prepared. I ordered short ribs (which when well prepared are falling off the bone tender) these were like eating a garden hose…tough and the flavor was like the meat was starting to go rancid. We miss the old Block Restaurant.

As a returning guest who has eaten here many times, I was sadly disappointed with our experience. The restaurant was freezing cold. When we mentioned it, our waiter simply replied that he was hot. On top of that, the coffee was served barely warm, and the food took an unusually long time to arrive. Once our food finally came, basic accompaniments like ketchup and syrup were missing, and our server completely disappeared. He did not check in on us once during the meal and only returned when we were finished to ask if we needed boxes. Food itself was meh, felt like it wasn't fresh or had waited a bit before served. Given how poor the temperature, food, and service were, there was unfortunately nothing about this visit that makes me want to return.

My husband and I have been to The Block several times and usually love it there. We went last night for my birthday dinner and were disappointed to say the least. We were informed after we sat and ordered drinks that the oven wasn't working and that they wouldn't be able to offer several of the main dishes on the menu. What we did order was a bit of a let down and every fried element was overly greasy/not crispy. Probably a unique case as they mentioned they were having issues in the kitchen but overall the food we received was not at the typical standard we expect from Block and Block prices. Drinks were great as usual.

My family of 4 recently attended Block. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday. Upon arriving, we were asking if we had a reservation. We replied that we had. This apparently made little difference because a table had to be set up for us. The whole eating process took over an hour and a half. The waiter was rarely seen and apologized multiple times for the wait. The food was not great. Only my wife (who's birthday it was) enjoyed her food. A lot of food was left on the plates of the other three as we left. The total bill was over $170. At that price range, I expect much more. My wife enjoyed the evening (thank goodness) but I wonder if she would have been so positive had she seen the bill.

Used to be a great restaurant but new owners have ruined it. Food was bland and it seems that they have cut corners to make a profit. Bring back the old block.

It’s been a while since I visited Block and for the same reason, sadly, I won’t be back. We were served raw tuna that was well beyond its fresh date. Shouldn’t have even been played. The rest of the food was mediocre. We sat with empty drinks for most of the meal. There were about 4 other tables of diners in the restaurant. The manager apparently discounted our check but no one ever stopped by or anything to explain why they would serve that dish to anyone. Sad because I really want Block to be good
