Café Lafayette’s story began more than 20 years ago in the town of Evian in the French Alps. Chef and owner, Fred Imbert, grew up there and dreamed of having his own restaurant. After a year in London working with seasoned chefs he made the move to California. He has managed kitchens of all sizes ever since: a year at Marriot Visalia, several years as executive chef for Kaweah Delta Health Care District, a bakery of his own in Hanford for five years and was the chef at Monet’s Restaurant for seven years. Twenty years later his dream has been realized and on January 3, 2015 Café Lafayette opened it’s doors in Exeter, California.

We try to dine there often. They have a great champagne brunch Good outdoor seating during good season.

Great wait staff. Food was well prepared and absolutely wonderful. Our second time for dinner. Both times we made reservations through Open Table yet we weren’t on the list when we arrived. Not a problem since there plenty of open tables so were seated right away. Definitely will be a favorite dinner choice.

I have been to most 5 Star restaurants listed by Zagat, traveled throughout Europe, and dined from NY to LA and can honestly say Café Lafayette is at the top of the list. From the Tivoli lights that greet you at the gate, and follow you through the beautiful courtyard, where you are greeted by friendly staff, the atmosphere is amazing The interior boasts romantic oversized black and white art, becoming of the artisan menu. The bar is quant and stocked with wines worthy of an upscale Napa tasting event. The culinary selection is well matched to the chef's personal touch. Fred, an ex-pat from Paris and owner of Café Lafayette has created an experience that will satisfy even the most experienced pallet. I would highly recommend the lamb. From the seasoning to the presentation, it is unmatched by any restaurant. Lucas the bartender is friendly and provides an exceptional personal experience. In short, this is a must try restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
