The Marksman rarely disappoints. The Orchard Sour was the perfect autumn drink. The salad of endive with what I can only describe as walnut hummus and blue cheese-outstanding. The roasted pollack was perfectly cooked with a lovely sauce. The elevated bangers and mash was so good it will be hard to go back to ordinary pub food. Bread is so good with or without butter. Great service too. One of our regular spots when we’re in London

A wonderful Sunday evening roast with friends! We ordered a starter each (Parfait, Chicory Salad & Salted Cod) and swapped so we could all enjoy what was served to us. Neither between us nor individually could we decide which was a favourite, they were all utterly delicious! Then the roast beef arrived; beautifully cooked, pink in the middle and flavourful. Served with super-crispy roast potatoes (there was a small fight for the extra crispy bits at the bottom of the serving dishes!) alongside buttery and garlicky greens (I REALLY want that recipe...as I don't want to eat greens any other way now), bread sauce, roasted carrots and a lovely crunchy Yorkshire pudding and gravy. We decided to do a similar thing with dessert as we did with the starters and ordered three to 'share': the set chocolate, pear and almond cake and British cheeses. All of them were excellent. The set chocolate had a berry sauce, cream and a crunchy cookie-like topping which all helped cut through the richness of the dark-chocolate. The cheeses were served with a damson jelly that was beautifully tart and flavourful and a perfect accompaniment to the cheeses (a hard goat cheese, Somerset brie and a blue) with crackers. The pear and almond tart was still hot when it came to the table and the cool accompanying quenelle of vanilla cream with the frangipani-like cake rounded off the meal perfectly. Highly recommend. It's been too long between my visits, so I'll be making an effort to eat at The Marksman more often!

Great atmosphere and service on a Thursday night so more than happy to pay the gratuity. I rate the decor and interior, little retro/ American diner style ish from the outside with the colour palette plus warm and candle-lit on the inside. Good date spot. Relatively cool and young-ish crowd, probably late 20s, early 30s. Food was tasty but a little on the pricey side for what you get, I suppose relatively standard compared to other London restaurants so I rated fair. But a little more bang for your buck would go a long way. Potentially £50 instead of £60 for the pie for two? That's the only reason I'd mark down the place slightly, otherwise worth a visit!

Delightful. Cozy, classy, innovative enough. Even in autumn, it gives the sense of a warm place in the cold. Service was excellent. It’s a bit loud - but in a way that feels alive & energetic.

This hub is always one of the highlights of our trips to London, and it never disappoints. Please do yourself a favor and get the chicken pie and the brown butter tart, and then of course anything else.
