- VVictoriaLondon •7 reviews4.0Dined 6 days agoTook my dad here for his birthday on Saturday, there were four in our party. The starters and main course were delicious. We had the salt and pepper squid, mussels with some bacon and cider sauce, boubillaise; chicken confit cassoulet, pumpkin and sage tortellini, smoked haddock, and ham and eggs. Only small criticism is the tortellini was a bit dry and would have benefited from a sauce of some kind, but it was really tasty. Unfortunately, once our main courses had been served, service deteriorated and became quite slow., leaving us with dirty plates for a prolonged period. Eventually we were able to order desserts and three of us had the hollygog pudding. It was slow arriving and when it did, the custard (orange and bay) was cold, and the pudding was burnt and had the texture of something warmed up in the microwave, and for slightly too long, so it was rubbery rather than spongey. I understand they were having issues with power cuts in the kitchen, which might have accounted for the slower service, but the dessert was really disappointing. Car parking is a bit of an issue because there's a recreation ground next to the pub, so it's busy and there's not really anywhere nearby to park instead. However, all that said, overall this was a really nice experience and I would return. Based on the quality of the starters and main courses, I would recommend.More infoThe Bear of North Moreton££££• British• Wallingford•4.8
- SSimonBerkshire •1 review5.0Dined on Aug 6, 2026It’s great to see this pub open again. It is such an amazing building and location. The new owners are doing a great job and the Thai pop up kitchen serves great food. A local classic car club were back for their second visit in a month, so it must be good! Only two things to note, they were quite busy when we went, and I believe they had a couple of staff missing, so service could have been faster, but we weren’t in a hurry, so no problem. The other thing is that vegetarians are very limited for choice at the moment. You have to ask for a vegan Pad Thai specifically, or you might get fish sauce and prawns! Apart from those teething problems it was excellent and we will be back!More infoThe Crown Inn, Pishill££££• Thai• Turville Heath•4.7
