Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Continental Midtown offers a "cool and interesting" vibe with "great varied food" and "friendly service." It boasts a unique rooftop dining experience and standout dishes like "cheesesteak egg rolls" and "lobster mac & cheese." While service can be "exceptional," noise levels and rushed service are occasional issues. "Highly recommend" for brunch or special occasions!

We had a reservation but the two hostesses needed to discuss and struggled with where to put us. They then informed us they could put us at a table but they had another reservation for that table at 1pm, it was 11am (and again we had a reservation). Our server was polite but slow. The food runner looked miserable and horrible. We need to take out plates from her because she didn’t speak to ask. We had two birthdays at the table and the same food runner brought over two separate scoops of ice cream with candles and just placed them on the table. Didn’t ask who was having a birthday and didn’t say happy birthday. The restaurant was not crowded. Food was great but there are enough wonderful restaurants in Philly that have better service and atmosphere where I will spend my money. We will not be returning, first time I’ve ever said that about a Starr restaurant.

The food was delicious, albeit pricey for what we had - $55.00 for an omelet, a martini, tax and tip seemed excessive. Service was good overall, although we had to ask for jam and ketchup repeatedly. Overall, good food and service.

Thank you for dining with us, Celia, and for the kind words about the food and service. We're glad the kitchen delivered for you. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts on pricing, and we're sorry the jam and ketchup took repeated requests. We'll share that with our team so it's easier to get what you need next time. We'd love to welcome you back soon, and thank you again for your feedback!

We enjoyed it. Very cool restaurant design and furnishings, yummy food. Bathroom situation was odd - we were on the top floor and directed to the basement where there was one single restroom and we waited in a dark vestibule to take turns, so, weird.
    Continental MidtownResponded 7 days ago
Thank you, Sherri, for taking the time to share your experience. We're so glad you enjoyed the design and the food. I'm sorry the restroom situation made for an awkward wait. There are other bathrooms available here and you should have been properly directed. We'll be sure to review your feedback with the team, and hope to welcome you back soon!

I dined here for my birthday and had such a great experience! Everyone was so welcoming and the food and drinks were amazing! I was indecisive about what to choose because everything looked good. My server (I forgot her name but she had black hair with bangs and was really nice), helped me choose a meal that was satisfying. Thank you so much for a great birthday brunch! I will definitely be returning again!

I am a big fan of Starr restaurants, but this was not it.. It was a last minute lunch date, and made a reservation for the roof seating. Upon entering, we were just directed to an elevator in the back, and had no idea which floor, so we hit 3. We ended up in a kitchen.. I went back down to ask, and learned it was P for patio.. Patio is gorgeous.. We walked up, and saw no one. We stood there for a bit, and finally someone came out and sat us. We were rushed to order(legit within 5 minutes), and learned the kitchen closes within 30 minutes of us being there so we needed to hurry the order. The appetizers and main lunch was served together. We ate, told the upstairs will close, so we just ended the lunch and left. Not the experience and feel that should be for a higher end restaurant, and for having 16 dollar drinks (good ones ill say), and expensive hamburger, cheesesteak egg roll, and grilled cheese. Id have expected a bit more of a relaxing, non rushed service. If the kitchen is going to close, then I would recommend NOT going at 230, go way earlier. The food was not Starr quality I expected as I have had at other restaurants of this brand. The surroundings are beautiful, and perhaps for dinner or happy hour it would be better when the rush aspect isnt there..
Continental MidtownResponded on October 23, 2026
Jonathan, thank you for being candid with us. We're sorry the elevator confusion and the rushed pace got in the way of what should have been a relaxed lunch on our patio. We'll share your feedback with our team, especially about the timing of the kitchen and how we guide guests to the roof. We hope you'll give us another try so that you can settle in and enjoy the views at your own pace. I'd sincerely appreciate the chance to make this right, and would like to invite you to reach out to me directly at joe.lopes@starr-restaurant. com. Warmly, Joe

Overall everwas great until it was time to pay the bill. I gave my server the credit card and told him I was going to the restroom. Upon return he left my card in full display at my table unattended. In this day and age, with stolen identity and credit card fraud you would expect the server to hold card until I returned to the table. Very disappointing and surprised. I would suggest you do some training with your team.
Continental MidtownResponded on October 23, 2026
Hi Keith, thank you for taking the time to share this, and I'm sorry the end of your visit left you feeling uneasy. Protecting our guests' payment information is important to us, and leaving your card on the table unattended is not the standard we hold ourselves to. I've shared your feedback with our team and will make sure it's addressed in our next training session. We really appreciate you telling us, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back and show you the experience you expect from us.

Food was excellent and innovative. Service was only Fair .. the busser / food runner morose and did not pick up used dishes and the waiter was not very observant.

Hi Alex, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for the kind words about our food. We're glad the dishes were innovative and enjoyable. I'm sorry the service fell short of what you expected. Clearing tables promptly and keeping a close eye on the dining room are both important to a good meal, and we'll be sharing your comments with our team so we can improve. We'd love the chance to welcome you back and show you the experience we aim to provide.
